“A Great Strip of Beach with Restaurants Galore”
Reviewed March 4, 2014

St. Augustine Beach remains relatively pristine without all the high rise buildings typical of southern Florida's Atlantic beaches. Yet, there are of plenty of beachside restaurants set back from the beach on A1A Beach Road with great food, happy hour specials, and live music. The beach is wide and permits one way (Southbound only) vehicular traffic with convenient street access points along the way. The hard-packed sand makes it a great walking or bicycling beach. The wind is great for kite flying and kite surfing. Waves are small to moderate most days so far this winter. It is a popular beach for kite surfing due to the favorable winds. Not crowded during the winter but I cannot comment on what it is like in the summer months. If you are vacationing there are several hotels on the beach that are very accessible to downtown Old City St. Augustine.

This beach is the perfect combination with the entire city of St. Augustine. It is truly one of the nicest all around places I have ever been. Great for families.

“Wonderful respite in January”
Reviewed March 1, 2014

We were there in January and unfortunately a "polar vortex" brought cold weather -- freezing temperatures in Jacksonville and close to freezing in St. Augustine. This turned out to be a blessing when we went to St. Augustine beach at mid-day. Plenty of free parking off of A1A in several locations, broad expanses of sand, and if you have a 4-wheel drive you can legally drive on the beach itself. The restoration areas of beach grasses are beautiful -- please respect them for what they are. Long strolls, crashing waves, and vast expanses of sand are absolutely wonderful.

“Absolutely stunning”
Reviewed March 1, 2014

The beach is outstanding and you can walk for miles. You can take your car right onto the beach (though there is a charge of $8).There is a patrol car which travels up and down and you can also cycle on the beach.

“Vacation 2014”
Reviewed February 28, 2014

The beach was beautiful, clean, and so serene. We enjoyed walking along the sand and letting the water sweep up to our ankles as we searched for shells.
