We just stayed at this hotel, the previous review almost made me cancel, there is no truth in the negativity, the travelodge is sqeaky clean, no odor, no bugs! I highly recommend this lodging for it's affordability and cleanliness. It is located about a mile from the historic district, a 5 minute ride. parking is not a problem especially this time of year, we got to see all and did not pay a dime. The only drawback is that free parking is for 2 hours and they monitor quite carefully. you can stay in an all day for $6.00. Out of ten reviews there is only one bad one so I believe that you will be comfortable at this location.

Having stayed in Travelodges in various countries we knew the level of accommodation to expect. This was on a par with other hotels. Whilst it is obviously not the highest standard - what do you expect for the price? - it is adequate, clean, and had the facilities you need e.g. fridge, safe, hairdryer etc.

The breakfast can hardly be called that- but it's free - orange juice, coffee and a pastry-type cake. Saves you having to search out a restaurant early in the day.

The pool is okay - bit near the road, but screened off.

A word of advice - if you go to st. Augustine on holiday - do go on the trolley bus ghost tour - it's a hoot!

We saw the Travelodge online and checked out the reviews through trip advisor. I'm not sure who wrote those nice reviews, or who they worked for, but upon arrival, we spent about 30 seconds deciding that this place was not fit for us and our children. It smelled of cigarettes (a non smoking room) and urine (I am not kidding). We immediately went to the office and requested our credit card impression and politely explained that the room did not meet our expectaions and we would not be staying. The owner/manager then told us, not politley, that no matter what, he was still charging us for the first night. I could understand this if we did not show up for our reservation, but not if we were not satisfied with the accomodations. We tried calling the Travelodge national number, but they told us they could not help us as it was up to the individual owner. We then tried to call our credit card company and block the charge, but agin, they could not help us. We ended up staying one awful night. I killed 7 bugs and those were only the ones I thought would harm the children.
First thing the next morning we checked out and checked into the Country Inn and Suites one block down the road. It was gorgeous, clean and the staff was so kind. Amazingly enough, it was also less expensive.
We are still filing a complaint with travelogde, but thought maybe we could save someone else the trouble.

We stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment and enjoyed it very much. The pool is 6 ft. deep, which was nice, since we haven't stayed in a hotel with a more than 4 ft. pool in quite some time, and it was very clean.
There is a guest laundry and the grounds have very nice landscaping. It was nice to have enough room for our entire family and the facilities were super clean. It is easy to find and there are excellent restaurants and tourist spots closeby.
Needs improvement: Furnishings, bath, and decor needs to be updated. The mattress was also too hard, which was uncomfortable, but not so bad that we didn't rest. It would also be nice to have a television in the second bedroom, and more than one phone in the room. Also note that it is located across the street from a garage and car dealership.
All in all, if you want a clean hotel without the extras, this is a great place to stay.

We stayed at the Travelodge Suites April 22 thru April 24. Didn't know what to expect when I arrived. This hotel is CLEAN and quiet. Stayed in cottage 118. It had a nice little kitchen with refrigerator, stove and microwave. a private porch that had tiki lights that came on at night. What a nice atmosphere. Friendly front desk help. Only 1 block from the "red" train that takes you all around St. Augustine. would definately stay there again. Had a blast. You must eat at Marty's only two blocks away on US Hwy 1 and the corner of Rt 16.
