“Dated, but Clean”
Reviewed July 15, 2012

We spent 1 night on July 6th. When we arrived, the manager was extremely friendly and helpful with places to eat and maps. The hotel is located 2 miles from the main center of St. Augustine. This was nice due to the noise. My family rented 2 rooms and both rooms were very clean and accommodating. Breakfast consisted of coffee, apple and orange juice, prepackaged pastries, and 2 types of cereal. Since there was not an eating area, we used a tray from our room to transport breakfast to and from the breakfast area which was located in the lobby.

Thank you for your business and the kind words you expressed about your stay at the Travelodge suite (old town) st augustine. 4/5 means a lot to us; we take our business seriously. Admittedly the Travelodge suite (old town) st augustine is not new; it was built in 1999. We do, however, take great pride in maintaining the up keep not only of the exterior, but also the rooms, We are also a no-frills motel although all areas of hospitality have been compared and contrasted with those of high end hotels We are continuously improving, upgrading our facilites, trying to create value, and are always conscious of the price point.

We look forward to seeing you and your friends in the future.

We stayed here in April 2012 and the experience was delightful. Everything was spotless clean and the all the staff were very friendly, knowledgeable and cheerfully willing to help. They provided excellant advice on areas of interest, the best ways to see the city and all it had to offer as well as wonderful recommendations for dining. Several staff went out of their way to be helpful. It was a great value. The rooms were large and the beds were very comfortable. Although it was not new, everything was clean and fresh. It is on the outskirts of the old city which was actually nice because it was quiet yet it was only a short drive to everything we wanted to see. It seemed to have a relaxed family friendly atmosphere where we could sit out on the veranda and enjoy the weather. We had an extremely enjoyable time and appreciated the comfortable accomodations. We had looked at several other accomodations in the area that had comparable rates or higher and nothing else came close to comparing to the cleanliness and comfortableness of these rooms. Great value!

Room Tip: They have rooms with a regular size refridgerator/freezer and stove so you can eat some of your meal...

Thank you for your kind words and taking the time out of your schedule to post a review on this site.. How we build trust is part of what we are selling: not just rooms, but the environment and the service experience. We are building on that in a difficult environment and clienteling is part of the experience. We provide one on one service and focus on what is right for the guest. We treat guests exactly how we would like to be treated when we are on vaccation. We always say that we are not a high end hotel, but we try to address all areas of hospitality so as to provide a complete expereince of service and value. Thank you for your kind words and also for your business.

Owner recommended places for both dinner and breakfast where the locals go, that turned out to be very good and within a short distance of the inn. We stayed in the two bedroom suite as there were four adults. It was clean and very large with a deck off the living room that we enjoyed sitting on in the evening and having morning coffee. As noted in other reviews, furnishings are a little dated, but comfortable. The inn is north of the fountain of youth, a bit off the beaten path but on a busy weekend, was quiet and relaxing. We had no problem parking at the garage in town to walk around.

Room Tip: The two bedroom suite is in a smaller building on the backside of the inn away from the street makin...

If you are looking for a decent place to stay in St. Augustine then this is the place. The management was very courteous and responded in a timely manner to any requests or questions. The room I stayed in was clean and a fairly good size. Overall the place is in a crappy area, but the neighborhood seemed very quiet. I had no noise complaints. Also it's very close to most of the attractions. I would definitely stay here again.

I was visiting town in late April. Crowds weren't bad at all and the motel seemed pretty empty. As a result there were no issues with noise etc. The room was a tad dated (furniture, etc) but well maintained and clean. Bed was comfortable especially after a long day of walking around the historic area and fort. Pool looked inviting but I was too tired to use it. There's a nice sea food restaurant (the Schooner?) just down the street which had a number of inexpensive but tasty specials. The motel is out of the hustle and traffic of the historic area which I preferred. The only downside to my stay could be attributed to mother nature and it had nothing to do with the weather but the tides. Most of St. Augustine is surrounded by tidal basins. When the tide goes out it exposes the mud flats which reek worse than an old outhouse. This happened the evening I was there and made the night air rather bad (putting it mildly). I guess the locals are used to it but it was pretty bad.

It means a lot to us that you enjoyed your stay, and we are glad that all of your needs were accomodated. We regard your rating as a success, and we are glad that you felt that way.We are sorry that the weather here put a damper on your stay, but as you said, it's simply mother nature, and we aren't able to control it. Regarding your issue though, we offer this advice: call before you arrive, so that you are aware of the conditions of the town. Many of our SMART GUESTS do this, and we fine that they are more fully satisfied with their stay overall because of it. So once again, thank you for staying with us, and thank you for your review.

We hope to see you, your friends and family soon again during your next visit.

Not real close to the historic district, but a happy medium between the HD and access to I-95. Quiet area. Great room. We stopped in St. Augustine on our way back from the Masters and was treated to a real nice 2nd floor room that had a micro kitchen. Clean and well kept. We'll be back.
