“A great deal if you're not too picky....”

The actual building and rooms are old,run down and dated. We knew this and didn't mind since we saved $80 vs. the hotel next door the night before. If you loved traveling and staying in motels in the 1980's, then this is the place for you! Although dated, the room was clean and comfortable. You only get two pillows per bed vs. four per bed which we're used to when staying elsewhere. The pool was clean and although the pool area lights were off, the lighting from the parking lot lit it up enough to enjoy a swim at night. The front staff allowed us to swim after pool hours which the kids and I appreciated enjoyed very much. We've stayed at other hotels which have strict pool hours.
One more thing, there is free wifi but it's useless. It kept dropping and was very slow when it actually worked.

Room Tip: We stayed in the annex building which is in far back near construction of another hotel across the p...

I stayed at this hotel for a work event. It is in a nice central location and they offer free wifi which works -but those are the only positives I can offer about this hotel.

Here are my issues with this hotel:

Door handle to the room was loose and almost came off when opening the door
Outlets were all loose on the wall so they moved as you unplugged or plugged in items
The room was dirty (wiped dirt off of the counter/sink)
I had to kill three large spiders in my bathroom
The room smelled of mildew and both my colleague and I who stayed at the hotel were congested after our stay due to the mold/mildew
They only provide soap and shampoo- no other toiletry options
The phone in my room didn't work because the cord had literally been cut
Coffee machine leaked water when I tried to make a cup of coffee and the coffee tasted stale (I spit it out and didn't drink it)
Outside of the hotel was also not maintained-- stairs and walk way had stains and needed to be painted

Hopefully you get the picture. It is obvious they spent some money trying to give a superficial facelift to an old property, but failed because instead of rebuilding or remodeling by stripping everything out, they tried to paint, add some border wallpaper, and add a valance. They repainted a bright yellow cheap looking paint over walls that are poorly patched with old doors, fixtures, mirrors, outlets and safes that are covered in rust---see pix.

There was a POWERFUL smell when we walked in the room---apparently it was carpet deodorizer to cover up some God-Awful smell (hopefully not pet mess). My wife refused to walk anywhere in her bare feet. She could not wait to get out of there. We stayed as a prepaid p-line purchase advertising 2 1/2 stars---needless to say we will NEVER return.

BTW: This motel is NOT that close to the Historic District unless you are a real walker. We still drove because of the 90+ degree heat. Find something newer even if it is farther out and drive in.

People seemed nice enough although their computers and WiFi was down when we arrived. Pool was 90 degrees but wet!

If you want to stay CHEAP and understand what you are getting into and have NO EXPECTATIONS then this might be your place. Look at your room PRIOR to paying.

Room Tip: Suggest you go for anything newer even farther out with GOOD ratings. If you have any expectations...
