dirty rooms, no bath tub, very low quality soap, no openable window, stincky carpets, very very old fashioned but inot comfortable, the smallest pool ever, gym almost impossible to get in if you are more than one! no complimentary water or fruit at the arrival...after few hours I was really wondering why I had to spend so much money for so much pain...well, I was one of the wedding's guests!!

We stayed at this hotel before and the hotel is beautiful, the rooms are beautiful. The service is excellent. The hotel has an old style and in some areas the carpet smell a little old, but overall is a beautiful hotel.

I took a group of 30 senior executives here for a business meeting and had an incredible experience. The staff was very attentive, the rooms were great, the meeting rooms were spacious. The Flagler Ballroom was perfect for a private dining function and lunch poolside was a special treat. Everyone in the group had a fantastic experience. I'd definitely stay there again, either for recreation or for another business function.

I live in St. Augustine and stayed here for a work retreat. I have not stayed in other hotels downtown, but this one is amazing. It is not on the water like some others, but it does have a pool. It is a great location, steps from St. George Street, Flagler, the Basilica and the main city center. The restaurant (95 Cordova) is also great. I highly recommend this hotel for a luxury experience!

My husband and I were given a Kessler Gift Card for Christmas from my parents who stayed here in Nov. '06. They were so impressed with the Casa Monica and St. Augustine that thought we would enjoy it too. I made reservations in January and asked for a suite to accomodate 2 couples. Discussed the St. Francis Suite as well as a 2-room suite. Decided to go with the St. Francis (room 407). All the reviewers are right... from the bell hop, to the maids, to the front desk, EVERY employee at the Casa Monica is friendly and courteous. Once Ed took us to our room, the 4 of us were amazed at the size and layout of the room. Once entering the suite, a large bathroom is immediately located on your right. On your left is a long wall and just beyond the wall is a room with 2 queens, tv, closet. Back in the hallway is a large walk-in closet, a wet bar with mini fridge and microwave. A stair case greets you appox. 15 feet from the front door. Behind the stair case is a sleeper sofa, 4 chairs, a desk, and television. The 2 large windows look out onto King Street as well as Flagler College and the Cathedral. Up the many stairs is the master suite, if you will. A large room with a queen bed, vanity area is outside the bathroom, a tv, and two chairs. There are no doors in any of the rooms; however, we made use of the wooden screen. The bedding is wonderful! The towels and toiletrees are nice!
The pool/jacuzzi area is very lavish looking, although too small for such a large hotel. There are two computers available on the 2nd floor to check emails, etc. and there is a workout room located next door. Here lies my only complaint. The four of us like to think that we are in shape and try to maintain a regular gym regimen. THIS IS NOT A GYM. There is 1 bike. 1 elipitical machine. 1 four-in-one weight machine. There are free weights ... and that's it! The room is maybe 10x10. Even 2 people in there at one time is somewhat uncomfortable. So, if you are a gym buff, stick to push ups in your room and a run around the city.

We did go to the Saranata Beach Club. This is described as a Private Club, which it obviously is; however, the club is located in a large Condo community. If you have kids... then go! The 4 of us went and luckily there is an adult only pool. The pool is large but it was freezing. The Beach Club was understaffed, therefore we had to go into the restaurant to order our drinks. The cab fare was $18 for the 4 of us. A shuttle does run from the hotel, but it picks you up at 11am and does not bring you back until 4pm. Too long for us!

95 Cordova: the 4 of us had a wonderful meal. Prices are similar to any upscale 5-star restaurant in your home town. I had the grouper special that was sauteed with snow peas, mushroom and shrimp risotta mingled with a coconut sauce. Yummy!!!! We also enjoyed the wonderful Sunday Breakfast Buffet there. Go before 10:30 b/c the price changes from $14.95 to $39.95 and it's then called the "Brunch". Something else really nice that the hotel offers is that there is a Starbucks/Deli in the Casa Monica. This is where we purchased muffins, pastries, yogurt, and fruit on all other mornings. They also sell the San Sebastian Wine by the bottle as well as a few other beers. Otherwise, without a car you are walking to Lil Champs or the winery itself (all located on King St...1/2 mile from the hotel).

Meals in town: Columbia! Can't say enough about it... delicious Cuban food! From their plaintains to their bread to their mojitos. All were incredible. We went back for lunch. Great Cuban Sandwich and you MUST have the 1905 salad! A1A is just like any other Gordon Biersh place. If you want a great beer and wine selection go just past A1a and find JP Hennleys. Small and pub like,50 beers on tap and over 100 wines. Ask for the $5 wine sampling. Harry's is great fun! Awesome court yard. New Orleans cuisine.

St. Augustine we decided is somewhat touristy, in that there are school groups taking tours (similar to Colonial Williamsburg). St. George Street you have to go down at least once, although there are a lot of families with children. So if you are traveling with all adults, this might not interest you.

The Casa Monica is an incredible establishment and I would definitely stay in this hotel again if I am find myself heading to St. Augustine again.
