A fabulous place for a reasonable price. Elegant, quaint, and tasteful is every aspect.

Right in the beatiful historical heart of this old city is this also beautiful hotel located. This classic decorated hotel is a good place to stay! The rooms are spacious and clean and the bed very comfortable! An excellent place to enjoy your holiday!

In walking distance you can find nice shops, restaurants etc.

Parking is the only thing that they can do something about: 20 dollars a day and parking around the street is limeted for 2 hours.

The outside is beautiful, the location is perfect. However, the rooms are very tiny and the hotel is quite old. Old can be good if you're in to the whole historical thing...tiny, dark hallways, only one elevator, creeky hallways that aren't level, not enough electrical outlets in the room, very thin walls, etc.

95 Cordova was a COMPLETE disappointment and I would not recommend it. It was not good. I liked the bar and it's service. I stayed there on my honeymoon, and kind of wish I had of stayed somewhere on the beach.

We visited St Augustine during Labor Day weekend 2009 (check-in: Friday, check-out: Sunday) and got a fairly decent AAA rate on-line for Casa Monica Hotel ($279/night). However, the cost for the second night was $208, which wasn't disclosed to us until we were checking out. They also didn't disclose a $14/day "resort fee" to cover the "free" in-room wireless internet access, a "free" newspaper that we never got, and access to the business center, beach resort, and swimming pool (on the 2nd floor) that we never used. They also charged $20/day for valet parking, which we did know about and used but didn't have a problem with because parking on the crowded street is difficult and it's all metered (and would have cost us more then $20/day).

The hotel and the room were very nice...clean and well maintained, and very beautiful. There is a romantic aire about the place and it does make for a very enjoyable stay. The elevator requires a card key to acces the upper floors where the guest rooms are, so it was nice to have that level of security. Our room had a king bed that was very comfortable, a large bathroom, an in-room electronic safe, TV, Bose radio/CD player, coffee maker, and hair dryer. Only three downfalls to the room (we were in room 440): it had an access door to the adjoining room, our view was of the back side of the hotel and the lower roof, a/c unit, etc., and the walls are very thin between the rooms (you could easily hear a normal conversation from the next room). The view wasn't a problem for us because we weren't in the room very much during daylight hours. Overall, the room and the hotel were very comfortable.

During our last night, a family with children was placed in the room next to ours and the children were very noisey and up very late (past 11pm). When we called the front desk to ask if there was anything they could do, they basically said they would come up and check in 15 minutes but the hotel was full, there was no other room available. The hotel did comp us brunch at their restaurant (95 Cordova) the next morning and a $50 credit to our bill for the inconvenience of the disturbance. (Hotel staff really should be aware of putting families with children in rooms next to couples just as a common courtesy.)

We did have Sunday brunch at the restaurant (95 Cordova) and it was very good, especially the seafood (crab legs, shripm, salmon, etc.), and the service was immpeccable. There is also a coffee shop in the lobby with pastries and sandwiches for a quick on-the-go snack or meal and the hotel also offers room service.

The hotel is right in the middle of the historic district and within walking distance of numerous restaurants and shops, and access to the tour trolleys/trains is very convenient (two stops within a hundred feet of the hotel entrance).

Overall, our stay was very relaxing and we had a very enjoyable time. We do plan to visit again and will most likely stay at Casa Monica for its convenience and elegance if we can get a reasonable nightly rate. I would recommend it to a friend, if for no other reason to just try it once.

I booked a room for our anniversary and was told I would receive an email confirmation. The email never came (reservation was made several days ahead of time), so on the way to St. Augustine I called to make sure we had a room and explained that especially since it was our anniversary I wanted to be sure we were confirmed. The person on the phone did confirm the reservation and stated that they would also put an 'amenity' in the room for our anniversary. There was nothing in the room, nor did anything come the two nights we were there. Not a big deal, but it's always better to underpromise and overdeliver, not the other way around. Also, at the time of our trip, the website stated that there is a complimentary daily newspaper. That never came either. When I called to find out where the newspaper was, I was told that they are going 'green' so they are not putting the newspapers at the door of the room anymore but they are at the front desk. It would be nice if they would explain that at check in so there is no expectation of a newspaper being delivered to the room and so that guests can know where to get a paper if they want one. In the room there are bottles of water that can be purchased for $5.00. Again, for a four diamond hotel, complimentary water would be a nice amenity. Light sleepers should take note that the air conditioning is extremely loud and sounds like an exhaust fan. The room was nice and the beds were extremely comfortable with nice linens, but for almost $300 a night, it pales in comparison to other hotels/inns we have stayed at in that price range. We definitely did not feel 'pampered' as we have at other stays, for example at the impeccable Wentworth Mansion in Charleston. Details make the difference, and they were lacking here. On the plus side, the location is great, right in the heart of the downtown historic district and short walking distance to just about everything. Also massage therapist Kathy was fantastic. On a side note, we dined at 95 Cordoba and the service was lackluster, not what we're used to for a restaurant considered to be a fine dining establishment.

Upon arriving at the Casa Monica, we had dinner reservations at 95 Cordova, the hotel's restaurant. The restaurant prides itself on fresh cuts of meat and fish, so I ordered the ahi tuna with high expectations. When we received our entrees, my fish was completely unseasoned, grey and dry as a bone. I really do not see how any experienced chef could serve ahi tuna that way. I requested another tuna steak and had to explain (!) to the waitress how ahi tuna is traditionally served. A bit later, another tuna steak arrived a bit less dry but still extremely well done. (It still tasted like cardboard, just like the first one.) Thanks to the sides, I didn't leave hungry. The polenta and steamed asparagus were good, albeit ordinary for the price. It is important to note that I do not mind paying higher prices for exceptional cuisine. If you choose to stay at the Casa Monica, skip the restaurant. Go to the Columbia instead...the food is much better and the prices much lower.
The room was average, a bit small, but with extremely comfortable beds. Again, definitely not what I would deem a four diamond luxury hotel by any stretch of the imagination; clean and comfortable, basic amenities.
The staff was exceedingly gracious during our stay. I am sure this played a major role in their AAA rating.

We just came back from a two day trip to St. Augustine, Florida. My daughter is considering going to Flagler College and we decided to splurge and stay at the Casa Monica Hotel. We have stayed in other hotels in the town but this was the most beautiful place we have ever been in. The room was spacious and immaculate. The pool was clean and warm. We enjoyed the coffee shop in the morning as well as in the evening for dessert.. Everyone--from the front desk, the valets, the bellhops, housekeeping , etc. was very friendly and helpful. The location couldn't be better. We also went to the Serenata Beach Club which was beautiful. Everything was wonderful--and we can't wait to go back to the gorgeous hotel.
