“Romantic”
Reviewed April 4, 2014

Pretty Spanish decor...our room smelled clean and had soft music playing upon our arrival. The staff in the main lobby was friendly and accommodating. Great location within walking distance to everything. My only issue was on our 2nd night when a crying baby in the room next door kept us up for hours in the middle of the night! Perhaps the hotel could offer "family" floors and "adults only" floors reserved for those without children. It seems like such a romantic hotel marketed to couples (between the music and the bottle of wine for purchase in room), so I'm surprised they don't offer that to ensure a more quiet, relaxing stay.

If you're going to visit beautiful St. Augustine, then you really must stay here. The hotel is very convenient to most everything. Once inside you'll see just how gorgeous this hotel is. From the Front desk staff, the valet staff, the housekeeping staff, everyone is focused on making your stay enjoyable. We stayed 4 nights and opted for the smaller, less expensive room. It overlooked the pool area and was just the right size for 2. The room was decorated very nicely and the bathroom was overly large. I read one review that mentioned a good nights sleep. But let me echo that opinion. I don't know how those walls were built back in the 1880's, but there was just 0 noise from the outside or the hallways. The bed and pillows were unbelievably comfortable. And we did have a small problem as well with the alarm clock. It's one of the Bose setups and it did wake us up one morning. But after using the remote, we were able to turn the alarm off. The bar area was so nice to sit in the evening after coming back from dinner. We would certainly stay here on our next visit to St. Augustine. After walking around the city and seeing some of the other hotels, although they seemed nice, we knew we made the right choice staying at the Casa Monica. It was a little more expensive, but oh so worth it.

We stayed here during spring break. It was a nice hotel. It was clean and the beds were decent. The location was great. The hotel resturant was good but the pricing was a little high. The wait staff was marginal. The hotel concierge was just not to be found. I left him a message at 1pm and he called me back at 4pm. He was never at his desk, gone to lunch, just not around. I would stay here again because of the positives or I would look into Amelia Island across the bridge.

We only spent one night there as we toured around the city on our way through but we found the bed and pillows extremely comfortable. It was the best sleep we had in a hotel in quite some time and it could have been the best we ever had. The only feature we didn't like was that the alarm clock woke us up too early. I believe these should be reset after each guest to prevent that from happening!

We didn't use any of the other facilities so I can't comment on those. We liked the location as we could walk to everything during our quick stay.

Room Tip: We had a room on the courtyard side and it was very quiet.

This trip was to be a special celebration and Casa Monica is a very special hotel. We received excellent help to reserve the right package (we selected the "Sleep, Sip, and Sail package). Ashleigh helped me make reservations for dinners and a great horse and carriage tour through the town. The hotel itself is a thing of beauty (heck, even if you are not staying here you have to walk through the lobby). The bar had live music with a great three-piece jazz band. We also had a fabulous dinner at the 95 Cordova restaurant. Our server, Kristen, was top notch and took excellent care of us. The food and presentation was excellent. The room we had was nice, large and overlooked the small park in front of the Lightner Museum. If you are looking for a special experience in St. Augustine, start with this hotel.

Stayed here for a brief trip and was impressed with the room size, bed and staff. We were in a premium king room and enjoyed the extra space and a beautiful view of the open space across from the hotel. The location is so convenient to shops, restaurants and local sights.

I wish wi-if was included, but really couldn't find much to complain about. We had a complimentary breakfast included in our visit and it was a little on the skimpy side. Other than that, I think we will stay longer next time.
