First of all the location is AMAZING, the hotel is located centrally to everything. Once you park your car you don't need it again. Now for the actual hotel itself, its is WAY overrated. The check in staff was borderline rude and basically told us that they care less what Marriott status you are because "this isn't a marriott". My husband and I checked in for a few days this past memorial day weekend and were given a king room that was the size of a closet w/ a view that was eye level w/ the dingy pool. Luckily st augustine has a lot to offer so that you don't need to spend a lot of time in the room. If we didn't use Marriott points i would have been very disappointed as this hotel charges way way too much for what you get.

If the purpose of your visit to St. Augustine is to experience the historic sites, art galleries, and enjoy the many restaurants, the location of this hotel cannot be beat. We had a car but left it in the hotel garage (charge was $24 a day) as everything above was located within easy, easy walking distance.

The hotel itself was built in 1888 and owned by Henry Flagler. It was completely renovated in the 1990s. It is elegant, the rooms are large and the staff was great. When I asked for info not only was I given an answer but suggestions were made that I had not thought about. All staff that we encountered were very friendly and service was given with a smile.

Stayed at Casa Monica for two midweek nights. This was not our first trip to St. Augustine but it was our first stay at this hotel. The initial room we were given, standard king, left a lot to be desired. The room was nothing special and small. The view was horrible, pretty much eye level with a flat roof and a few roof vents. I think the price of the initial room was around $150. So we decided to upgrade to the premium king. The room was a little bigger and the view was much better, but the price was also much bigger $200+. The room was very damp to the point our leather sandals absorbed moisture over night and were soggy. The pool is outdated, small, the tiles around the edge were dirty and there was rust stains around the edges as well. And if your driving your own vehicle be prepared to pay $24 a night to park as they have no parking for patrons. If you have been to St. Augustine before you know that parking is a pain and hard to come by so there was really no other options. You would think that paying over $200 a night would at least get you a space to park your car. Tried to get a water from the vending machine for my wife only to find out they have none, but they do give you the option of buying $5 bottles of water in your room! The water pressure in our room was barely enough to get the shampoo out of our hair. I would absolutely never stay here again. Do yourself a favor, research a bed & breakfast in the area, there's tons of them. The prices are much cheaper, breakfast is usually included (not at the Casa Monica!), they usually have a happy hour where beer, wine and snacks are complimentary and most have parking available. Don't make the same mistake that we did, I will be telling everyone that I know that the Casa Monica is overpriced, overrated and not worth the visit.

Thank you for sharing and for responding with your room number so that I could personally inspect the room you were assigned. I am very sorry that Casa Monica did not live up to your expectations and I have addressed the deficiencies you mentioned. Upon inspecting the room I did not observe any so I am sure that our maintenance staff was notified to take the necessary corrective measures. I appreciate your comments and critique so that we can use this valuable information in our continuing improvement efforts.

A lovely setting, but we found some of the trimmings of a special hotel lacking. The desk staff were pleasant, but a bit lazy. We left a small piece of luggage on a table in the lobby, but when we called the desk to ask if it was there, they said it was not. They apparently couldn't see the bag although it was only a few feet away, because it wasn't on the counter. We were to asked to identify card number for valet even though it was in their record of our reservation. There appeared to a problem with the drainage in the room, lots of gurgling in the bar sink after every shower. When there was a power outage due to weather, the generator worked in lobby and hallways, but not in rooms. There was no shampoo in the bathroom. The lunch service in the coffee shop was sluggish. In the bar, the bartender poured our drafts but forgot to deliver them to our table. These are minor things, but numerous, and they seemed out of place in a spiffy hotel. We decided Casa Monica is pretending to be something it isn't. Also, as it is an old hotel, windows in rooms were very small. Service, menu, and meal at 95 Cordoba restaurant were excellent.

From the valet to the front desk and on to housekeeping we were given excellent service throughout our stay at the Casa Monica. The hotel may be priced more than some national chains, but the fantastic location, historic charm, and personalized service are more than worth it!! Specifically, Natalie's (front desk) empathetic assistance was truly appreciated!!

During our visit to enjoy the events of this year's Romanza Festivale, my wife and I dropped into the lobby lounge of this fine hotel to listen to a jazz session. The music was great and the atmosphere of this hotel made the evening very enjoyable. Service was great for appetizers while we had drinks and sat through sets performed by a Lisa Kelly. Great night!

We stayed at this lovely hotel in March and enjoyed our stay. The room had a nice view, it was quiet and well maintained as one would expect in this fairly high price range. I don't think any of the other big name hotels in this town can hold a candle to this location. The Casa Monica is right in the middle of everything, yet in a quieter and classier section. While in St. Augustine some of our favorite sites and things to see were the lighthouse, touring the college, the Ximenez-Fatio House, the Dow Museum of Historic Houses and the Castillo. The standout restaurants, of which this town has many, were Cellar 6 and A1A Ale Works. We had an outstanding Cuban coffee at La Herencia, however, the breakfast there was disappointing. We would definitely stay at this hotel again and expect to return to St. Augustine.
