We booked the Best Western for July 5th-7th and were going to St Augustine for the first time and this hotel did not let me down. We got there a bit early (11:30) and our room was ready and we checked right in. The lady at the front desk gave us a heads up about the area our options as far as the tours. The lobby had some couches to relax on, as well as a computer to browse the internet. The lobby also offered complimentary juice (cranberry, orange and apple) around the clock which was nice. The room had two queen beds and were very very comfortable. Both the room and the bathroom was very clean and thats always a plus. We checked out the pool and it was nice, the deck area had a few tables with umbrellas and there was also a hottub. The breakfast was pretty basic but offered your cereals, oatmeal, fruit, honeybuns, muffins as well as coffee and tea. Overall id definately stay at this hotel again and id recomend it to anyone traveling in the area.

Two couples - two rooms (adjoining) The Asst Mgr was very nice - allowed us into one of the rooms early, so we could sight-see. The rooms were very clean, smelled good and in good repair (not always the case in our experiences). Rhonda, (the mgr referred to) was very helpful in getting us started on this, our first visit to St. Augustine. It will not be our last, and this inn will be the starting and ending of our stay. The AM breakfast proved worth fitting in to our busy schedule - the food and beverages fresh and plentiful.
We were there during a cold spell - the pool was not an option, but I did seek out the hot tub. Only negative about our stay - it too was cold.
We didn't come here to be pampered or seek out extraordinary services - it was a place to hang our hats (and get a few zzzzz) while we experienced the city - it proved to be an excellent choice for just that. Would I recommend the Best Western Historical Inn, St. Augustine, FL? You betcha!

We had booked using Hotels.com a room for 2 days - 30 and 31 Dec. We arrived in the afternoon driving down from Jacksonville
Intl. Airport. The clerk, actually a manager, allocated a room which we did not find very acceptable. Corner in an L-shaped building with a view to a washing machine. We said no thanks and then the offer was a smoking room. If you smoke 2 packs a day perhaps acceptable but we could not stand the terrible smell. Back to the manager and she offered a room just opposite the ice cube machine - she warned against noise and we easily believed that. She was sorry as no other vacant room was available. Twenty minutes later we were in the reception room and a traveller dropped in asking for a room; no problem and he was allocated a nice one on the spot. When confronted with this she said that Expdia bookings were so cheap that we did not deserve any better room - we had Hotels.com. Then a new excuse; since our booking was for 2 nights it was impossible to give us a decent room. We could not stand such a liar at the reception desk and left - we want our money back. Also, there is nothing in the Hotels.com. booking scheme saying that we should be treated as secondary citizen.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a St. Augustine weekend getaway. It was everything I expected and more! The room was clean and very comfortable. The pool and jacuzzi were great and very clean as well. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The breakfast had a great variety, and was delicious! I thought it would only be cereal and toast, but they had fruit, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, danishes, muffins, bagels and more! It was within walking distance or a very short drive to all of the attractions we visited. I was very happy with the choice to stay here. It is a great hotel at a great price! I would definitely stay here again!

  • Liked — I was very comfortable and relaxed...and didn't break the bank!
  • Disliked — i didn't dislike anything about this hotel.

We stayed here for a night on our way out of St. Augustine. One of the main reasons we chose this hotel was for the wireless internet. Well, that didn't work. We got a small signal from a nearby hotel, but not strong enough to do anything. When I asked the front desk how to get on the internet, they weren't sure what to do, so they told me to call the hotel next door. We eventually got a box to increase our signal, but to no avail. The room was fine. It was clean. The neighboring guests were loud and slammed doors, but that is of course not the hotel's fault. We did not visit the pool, however. The hotel is in a good location. Not really walking distance to the heart of downtown (you could if you really wanted, but you'd better be in your comfy sneakers), but not very far either. The front desk staff was nice when we first got there, but the night staff wasn't as accommodating or pleasant. We might consider this hotel again if we were in a jam, but it won't be our first choice.

We stayed at this hotel couple days before NYE. It's a nice hotel for a very affordable price (considering the time of the year). Good size room and clean.

But the wall is paperthin, so people from the next room came out and yelled at us for being loud. We weren't that loud actually. So we went to the pool area. The jacuzzi is nice, the pool is not heated.

Location is great. Really close to downtown and lots of historical attraction. Close to St augustine beach and Vilano beach.

Front desk staff is friendly, but "breakfast bar" means: juice machine, coffee pot, and some donuts.
