Owner description: Located in historic St. Augustine, Florida, Memorial Presbyterian Church is a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). We are not just any church. We are Florida's first Presbyterian congregation, established in 1824. CNN has named us one of the eight religious wonders in the United States. The present sanctuary was given by Henry Morrison Flagler and dedicated in 1890 as a memorial to his daughter Jenny Louise Benedict who died from complications from childbirth. Mr. Flagler, his first wife, Mary, daughter Jenny Louise and granddaughter, Marjorie, are entombed in the Flagler family mausoleum at Memorial. The church is open for visitors Monday-Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Enjoy a tour of the church by one of our trained docents during the week and then return on Sunday to join us in worship. Our visitors come from across the state, the nation, and the world.

I took some wonderful pictures! It is absolutely beautiful on the inside. The outside is breath-taking!

This is such a breathtakingly beautiful church. The details are amazing in the woodwork, light fixtures and stained glass. We went on a Wednesday & the organist was practicing for the Wednesday performance. Wow!

What first struck me about the Church was the stained glass. The coloring is quite unique. The interior is also different, with seating organized in a cross pattern with some facing the pulpit and others not. As is oft the case for me, I left without doing something I wish I had. There is quite a history behind the Church organ, as there often is. I do wish I had attended the Wednesday organ concert, a weekly event. You can spend as much or as little time exploring the history and architecture of the Church. It is well worth your stopping in.

The church was closed when we visited, but we were still able to enjoy the architecture from the outside. Simply an amazing church and piece of architecture. Would have loved to go inside, but being closed, it leaves something to do next time in St. Augustine.
