“Another WONDERFUL Stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 2, 2012

Spent this past weekend with Linda and had another wonderful time. From checking in and getting to sample her fresh made Pina Colada bread to check out we had a blast. She really does go out of her way to make her guests feel welcome. We will definately be going back!!!!

Great place to stay. Not over extrangevent or "too period". Just right for that more personable feel and accomdations. The breakfasts were excellent and the innkeeper strives to make your visit "a home away from home."

Room Tip: Stayed in the Palm North on second floor.

We stayed for two nights. Location is excellent and the B&B owner, Linda, made us feel like home. She prepared our breakfast both mornings and made good recommendations to get the best of this beautiful place to visit if you have a couple of days.

You can't beat the location and price. The building and back garden were very charming - exactly what I imagined in St. Augustine. Inside, the rooms and the furniture could use updating, but only for aesthetic purposes. The rooms were clean, well stocked, and the bed was comfy. The door on our room (Orchid) only had blinds blocking light from the hallway, so the only thing I would suggest for the rooms is maybe a solid door.

Linda was such a great hostess, and the breakfast was a perfect start to the day. This was my first B&B experience, and it was wonderful. Will definitely be coming back!

We would not stay here again. The inn needs maintenance and refreshing. There was obvious, visible water damage on the window sill in the bathroom, and someone had actually stuffed toilet paper in the crevice between the window and the sill. This type of deferred maintenance will end up costing the innkeeper or next owner a lot of money, as the source of the damage is not being addressed. The towels were threadbare, and the place needs a deep cleaning and/or fresh coat of paint to deal with fingerprints on the door frames and lingering dust, etc. The garden area in the back had some dying plants and a cheap, discount store table with rust stains on it. The book of restaurant menus looked like it hadn't been organized in years. On the plus side, the innkeeper was very friendly and helpful, the inn itself is charming and has a lot of potential, and the location was outstanding. If the inn were to receive an overhaul, it could be fabulous. But upon walking around the historic downtown St. Augustine area, we saw lots of other inns we'd like to try... maybe they're already fabulous.

Room Tip: Ask if any room has had a makeover in the past two years.

The B&B 44 Spanish St. in Saint Augustine was an excellent place to stay for a weekend away from home. It is right in the center of old downtown, within (short) walking distance to everything. The room was spacious and clean but a little noisy. Breakfast by Linda was excellent both days. I would very much recommend this B&B to anyone going to Saint Augustine.

We had a great stay here, excellent location, comfy room and big bathroom. Breakfast was top notch, lovely pastries and a great fried egg and bacon wrap thing which was great fuel for the day. Very welcoming and definitely recommended.
