“Lovely stay, even with small kiddos.”
Reviewed October 30, 2012

We have tried many different bed & breakfast locations in St. Augustine, and found Bayfront Marin House to be lovely! The breakfast was yummy, the room was SPOTLESS...and the staff was so polite, and they really made it nice for our 11 year-old, who was celebrating his birthday. They decorated the room for him and made him feel special. We will definitely return (maybe next time without the kids!)!

Thank you so much for your wonderful review!! We loved meeting your "kiddos" (I love that, because my mom used to call me "kiddo"!)--they were such polite and well behaved young men! And it was a lot of fun planning a little celebration in your room--we love being part of surprises, so thank you for giving us that opporutnity!! Thank you again for the review, and we hope you can come back again soon--Mike and Sandy and the Whole Bayfront Marin House Staff

We arrived at the Bayfront Marin last month after a long, early flight from U.K. First impressions were very good, ie, what we wanted where we wanted it. Sadly Sue had broken her ankle the week before we flew and was wearing an "airboot". We asked if there was a nearby wheelchair rental, the staff found one for us which was delivered the next morning. We arrived just in time to make full use of the (very generous) Happy Hour, which is a great place and time to swap stories/tips with the other guests. There had been a wedding in the grounds that day so the mood was very pleasant and busy. Our room was on the first floor (as booked by us) but when guests left the following morning we were transferred to a downstairs room, which was a gesture we did not ask for but were given anyway. You can't ask for more than that, old style service ! The breakfast (wow, and what a breakfast ) had to be booked the day before, we had to give a time but this option suited us as we wanted to be up early and off exploring. Both the rooms were quaint, immaculate and relaxing. The beds were comfortable and luxurious, the grounds are very well presented and well sited and yes, there were dolphins in the Bay just accross the road. The Bayfront Marin ticked all our boxes and then some. Thank you Mike, Sandy and all the crew for all your efforts, it was very much an excellent, relaxing start to our Flydrive. Ray and Sue, from (old, not New) York.

Room Tip: There are no bad rooms, but for the best Bay view it has to be an upstairs room.

We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay with us, despite Sue's injury! We're glad that we could help make her stay more comfortable...we felt so badly that she was in pain while on vacation! But she had the best attitude ever, and it was wonderful to help both of you in any way we could. Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a nice review--we really appreciate it. And we hope that we'll see you on your next trip to the states!!!--Mike and Sandy and the Whole Bayfront Marin House

I just got back from another visit to St. A, and again, I stayed at the BMH! This time I brought my dad along so he could see how wonderful St. A was and to meet, what I consider my family there.

We stayed in the Lindsay-Michelle room, which has two rooms attached. It was great. Beautifully decorated, lush in appearance and feel. Private porch/sitting area out on the deck. LOVELY!!

As always, the staff there was wonderful. I miss them already. Claudia, Heloisa, Elizabeth, Tatiana, Laverne, Emery and Brian, Mike and Sandy, Jane and Donna {I was bummed I didn't get to see Miss Mary this time around! =( } All wonderful people who always make me feel like I'm 'home'. =)

The food was wonderful. Laverne made a killer red velvet cake and a berry pie. Mike made his ice cream, butterscotch cookie dough!! Heloisa made a delish rum cake! Donna--she destroyed my notion of the only great cheese cake being from NY city! Her's blew it away! Everything was amazing, from breakfast to happy hour munchies and drink offerings, to the desserts! YUM!!!

The gounds are beautiful and the the place is in a wonderufl location...right on the bay! Dolphins going through, chowing down on small fish as they pass. My dad and I watched Osprey fly around, and one in particular seemed determined to build a nest on the top of a crane. By the end of our stay he was still at it, but this time trying to build one on the 'crow's nest' of the pirate ship docked at the marina. LOL....

I would be remiss if I didn't mention Tatiana. She made a different animal out of towels for us each day, leaving them on the beds. A swan, sea turtle, turkey, chicks, a heart, bunnies, a dog, and then...a giraffe!!....it was a hoot!! I think she did it because my dad and I raved about it so much. She smiled as much as we did! It got to the point where everyday we'd get back in the room and look for it! LOL...truly fabulous!

These are my friends/family and I can't wait to get back and see them all!

5 Stars all the way!

Hugs to you all! Dulcie and dad (Jim)

It was so good to see you again, and what a nice treat to meet your dad (who is as nice as you are!) THANK YOU so much for taking the time to mention so many things and so many different staff members--that kind of appreciation really makes our day, and as you say, it does make us try even harder to ensure that your stay is wonderful! (Tatyana says she wasn't really happy with her giraffe, so she's going to work on that one for your next visit!) Mary says hello and she's sorry she missed you--she'll definitely see you next time! We all feel so lucky that our job lets us meet wonderful people like you. Thanks again for the wonderful review--and we look forward to seeing you (and dad!) again soon!--Mike and Sandy and Everybody Here at the Bayfront Marin House!!

Having visited the Marin House again, I can only say that it gets better and better. Mike, Brian, Claudia and the rest of the staff treat you as private houseguests and insure every detail is noticed. In addition, the view is spectacular, the breakfasts and happy hour fare delectable and the accommodations spotless. We always hate to leave and can hardly wait for a return visit. If you love a trip back in time surrounded by period furnishings with all the comforts of today, you will find this place without comparison in St. Augustine. HF

Room Tip: If stairs are a problem, be sure you arrange for first floor.

What a wonderful gem of a find. We stayed for 2 nights B & B, our room was amazing, from the furnishings to the decor. Only 1 negative point, if you are 5 foot or under its a struggle to get on the bed, but once on there OMG it's sooooo comfortable. We stayed in the forester suite with lovely sea views, at the moment they are securing the sea wall, so there was some disturbance with men at work ( not that it spoilt it). Breakfast was delicious with home made blueberry waffles dribbled with syrup. Would certainly recommend O C Whites for a drink and food lovely outside seating with a singer playing in the open air.
Would definitely go back and recommend

Room Tip: Forester suite

Thank you so much for writing such a nice review!! We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay with us!! The room that you mentioned does have a high bed (some are not as high if that's an issue)...Sandy is only 5' (although she says 5'1" on her driver's license), so we do have a small two-step piece to give folks a boost if they need it! :) We really appreciate your review, and your comments on the rooms, the views and breakfast--we're happy that they all added to your St. Augustine experience. Our stay of seven days at the Bayfront Marin House greatly enhanced an already wonderful experience in St Augustine. Our room was furnished and decorated in keeping with the historicity of the Inn as well as the city. Cleanliness was evident through out the premises including a beautifully kept flower garden area with outside seating for breakfast and "Happy Hour". The inside breakfast room and kitchen area were also immaculate. The staff from working ownership to management, to serving and cleaning personal were genuinlly cordial and attentive to our needs and wishes. They all circulated during breakfast and happy hour conversing with all present and seemed able to make everyone very relaxed. In our opinion this wonderful B&B is the best in St. Augustine.

We just love the Bayfront Marin. Mike and the staff make us seem like we are one of the family. Christy and I were there the last week of September. Awesome as usual. We are going so much that Mike will have to put us on the payroll. The staff even remembered our friends stayed there recently on our recommendation and asked how they enjoyed the stay..Do yourself a favor and stay at the Marin. You will not be disappointed.

It was so nice to see you both again!! And of course we asked about your friends--we know that you are a great ambassador for the Bayfront Marin House and we so appreciate it when you recommend our inn to people you know! We'll have to see if there's an opening on the staff for "Ambassadosr at Large" to get you both on the payroll! :) Thank you for the wonderful review, and for your many return visits--it's always wonderful to welcome you back!!
