“Not worth the money”
Reviewed July 12, 2013

We have lived within 3 miles of The Crab Shack for 7 years. We used to go all the time when we first moved to FL, the prices were reasonable and the food was good. In the last few years the prices have gone way up and the food quality has gone down so we haven't eaten there in several years. Today our friends called to say they were there with out-of-town family so we joined them. Big mistake! The service was horrible, the food was terrible and the prices were high. My husband and I had 2 shrimp & oyster sandwiches w/fries and 2 drinks for $35. Our friends didn't eat the crab cake sandwiches because they were so bad, 2 others ordered chicken philly's and got steak philly's. We had to get up from the table to find someone to take our order, get drink refills, and pay our bills. We will not be going back!

“Unique not as good as in the past”
Reviewed June 29, 2013

I have visited the Outback for 10 years after visiting the outlet malls. Last year it wasn't up to standards and this year continued to go in the wrong direction. If you're a big eater you will be satisfied. If you well prepared seafood then you won't be happy. It's a shame it's in the mediocre range today. Wouldn't pass a red lobster to go here.

“Place was hopping!!!!”
Reviewed June 18, 2013

Went there on Father's Day with our neighbors. We took there boat and tied it up at a very large dock alongside the restaurant. They have a large outside and inside area. I ordered the softshell crab sandwich which was average at best!!! What looked amazing were the seafood boils. Next time I will try that. 1/2 of seafood boil feeds 2 people. You can get crawfish, snow crab legs, sausage, corn, etc.

“Not what it used to be...so, so sad!”
Reviewed June 4, 2013

We used to LOVE this place. We recall a fun atmosphere, delicious seafood, a great view of the river. We were staying in Ponte Vedra and drove 40 minutes to eat here. Boy, were the past reviews correct. We didn't want to believe it, but it was bad. The porch isn't what we recall. It's concrete, no atmosphere, no view, no music. The picnic tables were not well wiped down. It took over 40 minutes to get our food, and it was NOT very busy. No refills were even offered on our drinks. When my husband got up and asked for his iced tea to be refilled, we were charged for a second drink! The seafood boil, which I recall being wonderful, was very disappointing. It was cold, with two little pieces of corn, only a few thin sliced of sausage, and mostly crawfish. The shrimp were "mushy" and it didn't taste fresh. The crab legs were good, and the dock out along the river is nice--we saw a manatee swimming in the canal. The fried gator tasted frozen. We were just so disappointed. This place is now off our list.
Goodbye, Outback Crab Shack...
