Owner description: Anastasia State Park includes 1,600 acres of rich ecosystems and abundant wildlife. Explore up to four miles of pristine beach, the estuarine tidal marsh teeming with plant and animal life, or the self-guided nature trail which takes you through the maritime hammock and onto ancient sand dunes. You can also visit the Coquina Quarry, an archaeological site where coquina rock was mined to help construct the nearby Castillo de San Marcos National Monument, earning it a spot on the National Register of Historic Places. At Anastasia, there are many recreational activities to enjoy including hiking, swimming, beachcombing, bird watching, and much more. The campground contains 139 campsites all located within the beautiful maritime hammock and just a short walk or bike ride from the beach. “State Park is Beautiful”
Reviewed February 26, 2013

ASP is really beautiful and quiet. It is close enough to go to the historic district to sightsee but away enough to relax and enjoy the outdoors without all the crowds. The beach is pristine with its sand dunes and sunrises are sensational. Restrooms are clean though not modern. Most campsites are roomy, though there are some that are cramped, so check with the ranger station before booking. They have a surf shop in the park that sells odds and ends along with ice and you can rent kayaks. You can go to the lighthouse that you see from the beach which is just a few minutes around the corner. If you don't want to pay the price to go in just go across the street to the pier and you can get all the pics you want, (tip one of the maintenance guys told us).

“Beautiful but closes the gates too early”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

We wanted to see the beaches and the coquina mine, but the park closes the gates at 5:00PM and we just didn't have time to see everything.

“Great Park, uncroweded in February”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

This park has a beautiful beach with dunes. It was uncrowded and has picnic and parking available. Lots of room to walk and let the kids run. Family-friendly and clean as are almost all Florida State Parks. Inexpensive day .

“Lovely, uncrowded respite from St. Augustine crowds”
Reviewed February 24, 2013

We came here in late February for a walk on the beach, seeking some peace and quiet after visiting interesting but crowded & touristy St Augustine. Anastasia State Park was just the opposite--a quiet, peaceful, uncrowded, wide sand beach. Parking was close to the beach; bathrooms, outdoor showers for rinsing off sand, and a store & cafe were available and clean. Can't give too much detail on the camping since we didn't stay, but we did drive through one of the camping areas and it had a lot of tropical vegetation surrounding each site, so they looked they would provide pretty good privacy.

“Beautiful and clean and quiet”
Reviewed February 21, 2013 via mobile

Campground is clean and staff /rangers are polite. Park is quiet and the store has last minute supplies in case you forgot. There are local stores close by via car. The beach is beautiful... Nice to see the main tourist sites in at augustine as well. We had the beach to ourselves and the white sand is so soft. The kids had a lot of fun picking up shells and playing in the water despite the cold temps. We look forward to coming back in spring!
