“Catholic Historical Site ”
Reviewed March 24, 2014 via mobile

Catholics who wish to worship will be pleased. Meditative and prayerful setting. Church bells, shrines and an old cemetery nestled in a garden with surrounding lagoons. Gift shop/Visitor center had bathrooms and a snack machine. Some historical merit.
Atheistic, non-theistic or boisterous types be cautioned, it's like touring an outdoor Catholic Church.

“Respite for the tourist”
Reviewed March 21, 2014

This religious and historical site was an unexpected and tranquil bonus. The site of the first Catholic Mass in the US, it inspires quiet and peace. A small chapel to the Virgin Mary is dedicated to mothers, an archeological dig is on-going, while various graves and monuments dot the grounds. Leave enough time for the gift shop which is lovely.

“Beautiful and peaceful”
Reviewed March 21, 2014

It's a quiet and beautiful area to walk and rest. It's called the most sacred acre. It's filled with history and lovely scenery overlooking the water.

“Wonderful & Peaceful”
Reviewed March 17, 2014

We stopped to take photos of the cross at the waters edge that we had seen whilst driving. What a surprise, the Mission is so historic and the cross stands 208 feet high. Our Lady of La Leche Shrine is so beautiful and peaceful and the gardens are beautiful. You have to cross over a small bridge to get to the gardens. There is also a wonderful museum explaining the history of the site. This was a beautiful serene place and I would not have missed this for the world.
