Chris and Kathy Martin provide a wonderful, private and eco-friendly tour of beautiful and historic St. Augustine. I have been to St. Augustine many times and took this tour at the suggestion of a friend and was I ever happy.
The Martins are so well versed in St. Augustine history and drove my husband and I all around the historic downtown while regaling us with stories of the main characters who drove St. Augustine's history and development, from Henry Flagler to Franklin Smith to the Sisters of St Joseph.
Seeing the changes of the topography from their book of historical photos really helped us imagine what the city was and what it has become. Both my husband and I were fascinated by the graveyard, cross and chapel at the landing point of Ponce de Leon and the Martins graciously allowed us to stay extra time to enjoy all the historical markers and the ambience of the old chapel. They were able to answer all our questions, and when we asked about a particular part of history, they took us off the beaten path to show us a special building which corresponded with our interest.
We loved the electric, vintage style of car. It was so comfortable, possessed seat belts and was whisper quiet. A loudspeaker was not necessary which added to the ambience and our ability to ask questions.
Last but not least, they recommended a terrific spot for lunch, The Ice House, which is a recently renovated and repurposed building which now houses a distillery, bar and restaurant.
My husband and I shared an absolutely lovely day which piqued our interest to explore even more St. Augustine history.
