“Great Spanish/Cuban restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 20, 2012

Was down in St. Augustine for my son's wedding. First night checked out the Columbia. The restaurant is decorated in a mexican motif with ceramic, fountains and open portico. We started with pitchers of red and white Sangia, both excellent. Three of us shared nine tapas, and it was too much food. Others around the table had various different dishes and everyone was satisfied. As noted from the title the food choices were Spanish or Cuban. Service was excellent and the bill was reasonable. $390.00 (pre tip) for eight people, including some appetizers, alcohol, and four desserts. Would definitely go there again.

“Always excellent”

Took my husband here for the first time. Food was wonderful. Enjoyed a pitcher of sangria. Certainly a St. Augustine tradition for us and a delicious treat. Love this place.

“nice change of pace”

Restaurant reminded us of places in Spain. Latin American food was very good. We had the sangria made at our table. Fresh and refreshing without being sweet.

For cuban flavor, this is the place! Excellent atmosphere. Superb service from Farid. The most delicious food we ate the whole week in St Augustine. Simply an excellent restaurant!

“Pretty, not tasty”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 15, 2012

It's a shame the Columbia's food is not better because it really is a beautiful restaurant. Their purportedly famous salad was nothing special, and it took great effort to get one with no dressing on it. The Cuban sandwich was tough and over-toasted. My husband's lunch was no better. And be careful in their gift shop: you can find much of the merchandise elsewhere downtown for less.

We never want to read that we let our guests down. I’m not sure what went wrong in the kitchen, but we apologize for serving you and your husband a disappointing meal. The good news is that you took the time to point out our mistakes so that we can speak with our chef to have them corrected.
