The service was great, but the food was not worth the price. Perhaps I had high expectations, but overall not the best Cuban cuisine.

“Way too expensive!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 29, 2012

I know about real Spanish food. They just have a name but the Spanish food as paella, it's just a regular rice with chicken because to find a shrimp, you have to make an excavation. The prices for the small plates are way to expensive. I know what is a real paella, not even close in this place. I hope that St Augustine have very soon a real Spanish food place. Sangria OMG forget it!!! It taste like they mixed the wine with water...not even mention 2 hours wait in order to sit down having small children. I'm very disappointing of this place.

We never like to read that our guests are disappointed in their experience at The Columbia, and we apologize. The paella entrée that you are describing is our Paella “A la Valenciana,” it is prepared in a traditional paella pan, with clams, mussels, shrimp, scallops, calamares, chicken and pork, baked with Valencia rice, extra virgin olive oil, green peppers, Spanish onions, ripe tomatoes, garlic, spices and splashed with white wine. Since you mention that you thought the dish was mostly chicken, we are checking with our chef to make sure that the recipe is being followed correctly, as you should have found a whole variety of items in your paella. As for the wait, we do offer the option of making reservations, both online or by phone should you wish to return in the future and not have a wait.

“Try the 1905 Salad!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 28, 2012

We have been to Columbia at Ybor as well. We love their Sangria (go for the Imported selection) & their 1905 Salad. Service was great at this location & lively. Great experience & highly recommended.

Enjoyed the tiled wall decor, fountains, embracing St. Augustine's Spanish heritage and the food was very good served by friendly staff.
