My husband and I visited the oldest wooden school house and I was truly amazed! It has never been restored in any way and you can definitely tell, to me its so strange to think that this is how people use to live back in the days!

Thanx for preserving the schoolhouse. It was an interesting site. The area has an old fort to visit nearby. There is the St. Augustine Lighthouse that we walked up. We saw a beautiful view.

Sure, it's old and it's cool. There are a zillion shops all around it and the whole area is fun to walk around. The old school house wasn't the most exciting thing in the old town, but take a peek.

The Oldest Wooden Schoolhouse in Saint Augustine, Florida is a very nice little schoolhouse. They have a lot of cool stuff at this place that you can learn. Some stuff that is cool is you get to learn how they learned back then. They have a garden where the kids played. They have a school bell you can ring. You can watch a 3 minute replica of what happened in the olden times. It is located on St. George street near Castillo de San Marcos National Monument. Since this is the oldest wooden schoolhouse if you are in Saint Augustine go to the Oldest Wooden Schoolhouse

I remember visiting this as a kid, and wanted to take my 7 year old daughter. The school house is a well-preserved wooden structure. There are lots of turn of the century "teacher and pupil instructions" on behavior, job description, and expectations. It was really neat to step back in time to see how kids went to school back then. When my daughter saw the "time-out" nook for naughty students, she said she would never behave badly in school b/c she wouldn't want to go in that naughty nook! She loved ringing the bell for school, too. It does cost a little bit to see it, and it takes about 20-30 minutes depending on how long you stay in the garden area.
