“Nothing special..”
Reviewed January 3, 2013

Have been here a couple of times and honestly had hoped it would be much better as its convenient to where i live. It's just ok is the best way to describe it.. basically very commercial americanized version of mexican/latin food. Both meals i've had were barely warm when served so were a little better when warmed up at home the next day! Much better mexican places in St. Augustine. The service is hit or miss as well.

“This is NOT authentic Mexican food.”
Reviewed December 16, 2012

This is not authentic Mexican food, it's very Americanized. If you want authentic, or as close as you can find around here, El Potro is the closest to the real thing I've found so far. Casa Maria's is clean and staff is very friendly, it's just not real Mexican food

“Bland and dirty!”
Reviewed November 30, 2012 via mobile

As soon as I sat down I had a bad feeling. Maybe it was the greasy highchair we were handed for our son or the smell of stale chips in the air. It just felt a little grungy in there. We should have left then it didn't get any better after that. The food was so bland. I had never had bland Mexican before. Enter at your own risk.

“Felt like having some Mexican food.......and still do”
Reviewed November 7, 2012

In my opinion Mexican food should have flavor.....and I'm not talking mld. We still desired Mexican food when we left after our meal. We were excited to see civiche on the menu, but were soon disappointed with the flavorless fish. The remainder of our meal followed suit.

“Ole! to this Dining Experience”
Reviewed October 18, 2012

We went here for a late lunch, and had a pretty good dining experience. The place was basically empty, but we were there between traditional lunch and dinner times. Happy hour was on, so we got a margarita, which was okay, good but nothing special. The free chips and salsa was good - again, the salsa seemed processed, not fresh, but was good. The food was again good. I got the steak tacos. They were in a soft corn tortilla, and although good, got a little soggy by the last one, so I dumped the meat and lettuce and just ate that with some salsa on it. The flavors are not overwhelming, but subtle. Side of rice was good, as were the beans. Not the worst place we've ever gone for mexican food, but not bad, either. Prices were somewhat reasonable for the portions served, which were generous. Big restaurant in the corner of the Publix plaza - might miss it if you weren't looking for it! Use the coupon out of the free local restaurant guidebooks - I think it was 10% off (every little bit helps!).
