We chose this restaurant for its great reviews and it exceeded our expectations. The seafood was fresh and the swordfish special of the day was one if the best fish dishes I have ever had. I loved the outdoor seating area in the garden. The chef took our orders and also brought out our meals.

Some reviews referenced wait time as a con, but you will have to wait for freshly cooked food. Totally worth it!

I am definitely coming back.

We walked by The Gourmet Hut on our first night in St. Augustine, after we had already eaten. The proprietor explained the concept of their dinner menu: rotating chefs with different nightly specials they create just for that one evening. So for the rest of our visit we kept walking by, just to see what that night's special would be. Finally on our last night we took the plunge and had dinner there. Delicious! Our meal was an appetizer of bacon and cheese stuffed mushrooms, followed by steak tips with rice and chickpeas in a sauce we spent the evening trying to figure out so we could try to do it at home. Service was on the slow side, but understandable as it seemed to be a two-man operation (chef and server/cashier).

We were so pleased with dinner that we went back the next morning for brunch. (Our decision was helped by the fact that we were hooked on the coffee next door at Crucial Coffee.) Husband had a panini and I had waffles and fruit. Service was much quicker and food was great.

Pretty sure we found our new favorite spot for the next time we go to St. Augustine!

We waited 1/2 hour for some yogurt and bagel (which was cold when it came ot our table). It was obvious they forgot our table. The waiter never apologized, nor would acknoledge our complaints, and would take nothing off our bill, 20 buck for yogurt, 1 bagel and a latte. Never, ever, again.

My wife and I ate lunch at The Gourmet Hut during a visit to St. Augustine. This is the restaurant owned by the same lady who owns Crucial Coffee. We sat in the nice courtyard between the two buildings. Wow oh wow! The food at The Gourmet Hut was a hit! We both had a mango salad topped with chicken and a curry-based dressing. The chef told us that the menu is only a suggestion because they can prepare just about any combination you desire. They have fresh fish daily. I plan on trying a salad with Grouper on top next. This is a must-visit place for anyone visiting St. Augustine. Also, if you are a coffee lover try Crucial Coffee next door. Ignore that it looks like a shack. That's part of the mystique that makes these places so special.

This is a regular stop for breakfast or lunch. The menu offers unique and flavorful options at a reasonable price, with seating in the yard. Always a good choice.
