“Wow.... Super exceeded our expectations!!!”
Reviewed September 1, 2012

My husband and I saved Gourmet Hut for our anniversary dinner after being in St. Augustine for a few days! We were told to order off of the specials menu... Which we did... And our food was amazing!!! Wendy, Tess, and Adian along with the Baristas at the coffee/ desert store were the best!!! If you want to go to a place where you get to know everyone... This is your place!!! We will always go here during our visits to St. Augustine!!!

“Exquisite dining for discriminating taste”
Reviewed August 31, 2012

In the most serene settings in St Augustine...you will find the most charming outside setting, the city has to offer with a gourmet selection of freshly created ideas daily
all local farm to table presentations. The chefs are free to create their own fare each day and WOW what taste When a restaurant can provoke such a lingering memory and you can't wait to return, that is something special. Kudos The best Judy H

“Breakfast in the courtyard”
Reviewed August 30, 2012

Based on other's reviews tried the gourmet hut out yesterday for breakfast. Pretty good overall experience. I had the mexican scrambled eggs ($9) which was a couple of eggs with chorizo, cheese, black beans, onion ... served with fried potatoes and some melon. Wife had the eggs benedict ($12) and found them quite good. The concept is a bit odd as it's related to the coffee shack next door so you go get coffee at the crucial coffee place (which is excellent) and pay for that, and then get your food from the gourmet hut and sit outside in the nice little courtyard between the two places. So pretty good, going to have to knock the "value" score a bit compared to places like the bunnery, but worth going to try it out.

“Don't miss the bruschetta and desserts!”
Reviewed August 27, 2012

Would give it 3.5 stars if I could, but not quite a four star experience for us. Our entreé's were small, overpriced, and not prepared as we requested, but the atmosphere and bruschetta appetizer alone might be worth a return trip the next time we are in town. The garden seating is lovely... however, if you go around twilight, bring bug spray because the mosquitoes are vicious!

We both thoroughly enjoyed our desserts which came from Crucial Coffee next door (same owner). The Tiramisu and Key Lime Pie were extraordinary and the perfect way to end our evening.

Besides the unremarkable entreé's my only other concern was over how the bill was handled. I would have liked to have seen an itemized reciept because I'm not sure how it got to over $100 for just the two of us. We did try the wine at the urging of the staff but were never told what it cost. Were it not for the "sticker shock" we had a lovely evening.

“Amazing and unusual”
Reviewed August 22, 2012

Okay, to start with, ignore the menu outside the hut (yes, it's really a hut and the awning out front leaks when it rains and you'll have to move indoors if there's a cloudburst.) What's offered each day is printed on a chalkboard inside the hut. The lovely young women behind the counter is cook, server, dishwasher and all-around one woman show. She only cooks with fresh ingredients she's able to acquire day to day. And she's incredibly talented. Food is delicious -- the eggs benedict had a silky smooth Hollandaise with an undercurrent of lemon juice and really fresh butter and eggs. I could have eaten half a dozen. Coffee comes from the shop next door (our server called our order over to the staff there, who treked across the yard with our steaming cups of latte in the rain.) Coffee was phenomenal. Fresh juices are also available. The best meal we had in St. Augustine. Don't miss it. There are outdoor tables and a few indoors. The owner also owns the coffee shop and the two places share this little corner of the city, right across from the old fort that's a must-see.
