I searched through many options of kayaking around St Augustine before deciding on Ripple Effect Tours and we weren't disappointed! I was searching specifically for 'off the grid' kayaking, away from the bustle of busy marinas and cities, and from the first call to the day of kayaking, everything was so customer-friendly and easy. Response times and email bookings were quick and clear, the staff helpful. The launch place is about 30 minutes outside of St Augustine, and departs from a marina (that you only see for a very short time before you're in mangroves). Leif was our guide, and he has some extensive background and education in the environment, is a native to Florida from a very young age and works in environmental protection. His knowledge of nature and the area is vast and he's an entertaining and educational guide. Like all tours for any company, there are no guarantees of specific wildlife sightings, but being on the water in the sunshine and hearing so much information is just a great way to enjoy some time in Florida and outside the city. Huge kudos to Leif for kicking off the tour with basic how-to's. We'd kayaked quite often before, but this would be great for anyone unfamiliar. The pace is slow and comfortable, so while you cover distance in 2+ hours, it's not as much as you'd think, and it's relaxing and the time passes quickly. The only recommendation I would give is that there was so much help and communication given to how to get to the marina, but even then we arrived and were quickly finding it tough to find them inside the marina. Some small guide signs at the road would be so helpful! Other than that (which was only a few minutes really), it was simply great! Also great -- there are bathrooms right there at the launch site, and Ripple Effect provides waterproof float carriers for valuables! Thanks so much to Leif and Ripple Effect Tours!

We spent a beautiful morning on kayaks with our Naturalist Mike. He was very knowledgeable about the plants and wildlife in the St. Augustine area as well as kayaking in general. We were lucky enough to see a group of dolphins and got to spend some time watching them swim. As a bonus, we got to stop off at a small uninhabited island to look for tortoises. We didn’t get to see any tortoises but we did get to see a very large snake. Highly recommend!

My wife, 14 year old son, and I spent the morning of Saturday, March 23, 2019 on a kayaking trip with Ripple Effect Ecotours. Our guide was Brandon who did an awesome job of teaching us about the estuary system. He was very informative and we had a great time!

An Eco-Educational-Adventure with great times for all and we appreciate your review. The estuary is an incredible dynamic system providing food and habitat that is also critical to the health of the ocean. Wildlife big and small make their home in the estuary, start new life and or find sanctuary while they grow bigger. We are grateful for the opportunity to showcase the estuary. Have a great spring, Eric

Our naturalist tour guide, Leif, was an amazingly wealth of knowledge regarding any aspect of marine life and the environment. A thorough introduction was given regarding kayak use and safety. Even before we left the dock Leif was explaining about cannonball jelly fish. This was no ordinary paddle. It was filled with humorous factual information. The tour was 2+ hours. This was truly a fun, educational kayak trip. A bonus was complimentary tickets to Marineland. We have taken other kayak trips but this was exceptional! Thank you Leif and Ripple Effects!

We experienced an excellent kayaking tour - viewing many birds species, dolphins, plant species, oysters and the numerous Fiddler crabs waving at us. We all now have a much better understanding of the stunning estuary system, and cannot wait to paddle again

Big waves of joy in one of the most biodiverse natural systems on the planet. The estuary is an amazing life force and we are grateful to the GTM, Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve. The conservation, stewardship, research and education is a balance of multiple agencies, federal, state and local, which includes the opportunity for recreation. Thanks for paddling with us and we look forward to your return.
