The King & Bear is hands down the best semi-private club in Northeast Florida. The greens and fairways are perfect right now. They have over seeded the fairways and tee boxes for the winter so it is going to be one of the few emerald courses here in a week or so after this arctic blast makes the grass at the other courses go dormant. As for this most recent cold snap, the greens should become lightning fast now as they did not over seed them, but they do continue to dye them so as not to create too much of a contrast with the fairways. FYI the dye the use is awesome as it does not come off on your ball or cloths like some of the dyes used by other facilities. If I were planing a weekend golf trip to the St. Augustine/Ponte Vedra area I would play the K&B's sister course the Slammer & Squire (same conditions as K&B), King & Bear and TPC Sawgrass.

We have stayed in both the hotel and in the Villas here and they are both exceptional. The Villas are completely self contained and you could live in them for weeks if you had to. Comfortable beds, clean rooms, great service.

Went to the World Golf Village and played both the King and Bear along with other course Slammer and Squire. The King and Bear is a more difficult course and in great shape for the most part. Week we went they had just over seeded so it was cart paths only. Not a big deal. Staff was very helpful and pleasant. We would go back again.

For a golfer this is probably the signature course in this area. Course is well maintained, excellent staff, play keeps moving (under 4 hours) picturesque layout. All that it is made up to be..
