Perhaps the most emblematic street in St. Augustine's old town, St. George street offers a walk back into the past. Cover its few blocks slowly, admiring the the impeccably renovated and maintained old houses and building, the tress and the crowd. Plenty of small business on both sides - creameries, bars, taverns, restaurants and shops - it might well be a destination for shopping, a drink or even a meal, as well.

We wandered through this part of town during a day trip to St. Augustine in April. Nothing really grabbed our attention. Our Segway tour of the city and a visit to the Pirate Museum were much more interesting and enjoyable.

Nothing but a tourist trap to get you to spent money. Nothing historic about the whole street. Shops and more shops. Watch for the guy trying to peddle timeshares with Best Western. He won't leave you alone.

Nice touristy area of St.Augustine. Lots of little shops and restaurants. Some kitchyness......but also some more unique offerings.
Try the Florida Cracker Restaurant. Good food. Service is fair to good. Not much ambience, but soups, burgers and salads were excellent.

I walked through St. George St several times a day for 5 days and still found a new shop, cafe, or a quaint pub each time!
