This street is full of history from the old city gates at one end to the Cathedral at the other. There's plenty of shops and ways to lose all your money on this street, but the history is fun too. There's an old one room school house, and several homes that you can visit. You could spend a couple hours or almost a full day.

You seriously can not say you saw St. Augustine without a stroll on St. George. Ill leave it at that.

Being a local to St. Augustine, I know this is one of the best spots. It reminds me of Duval St. In Key West. So many great shops and restaurants. This is a must see when your in town.

Easy walking, varied shops, no cars, interesting architecture.
Also suggest walking along Aveles Street--it's got many historic buildings and is less commercial.

This is a "shoppers delight" (and eaters' delight) with something for everyone from 4 to 104. My guess is that you could spend several days on this street and still feel you hadn't exhausted its possibilities. In addition to lovely jewelry shops and ice cream to die for, and cobblestones, this street also boasts people of every stripe from every state and country along with their dogs in tow. A walk down this street seems a fitting introduction to St. Augustine, but you may want to save it until last as it will bring back many memories of the entire city.
