“Pretty Cool place to visit”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 21, 2012

This museum contains lots of historical artifacts and a history of all the famous pirates. Some more famous than others. There were several areas of interaction that you could participate in including firing a canon, listening to a narration from the hull of a ship narrating Blackbeard's demise, and other wax figures that talked. There were many different videos narrating oceological findings.
This museum is very interesting but might be a little too deep for young children.

“Interactive exhibits!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 21, 2012 via mobile

I visited on a beautiful Sunday afternoon in late October and I must admit I was pleasantly surprised with the exhibits. Most were interactive and the museum had really neat artifacts and historical records. The journey takes you through a pirate ship setting, which is great for setting the tone.

“Daughter Loved This Museum”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 17, 2012 via mobile

My 11 yr old daughter really loved this museum - it was her 2nd favorite spot in St Augustine (1st being the Fort). There are a lot of interesting exhibits and historical info. The younger children there did not seem to enjoy it so I would not bring young children to this museum.

“Good place to visit”

The museum is quite small, but it worth the price. You will learn a lot about pirate history and will find real stuff in there. The interactive part is also very interesting. The only sad point is you don't have the right to take any picture of the exposition.

We're glad you enjoyed the museum and learned so much about pirate history! We do allow photography in the museum, but not flash photography because of the age of the books and documents inside. Thanks for understanding!

“Don't miss it!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 8, 2012

This museum is fairly new to St. Augustine, having relocated from Key West. I've never seen anything like it. It is absolutely awesome and authentic! Yes, Virginia, there were treasure chests and Jolly Rogers. The museum has one of each, along with such items as medical equipment, weapons, journals and even movie props. There are many interactive exhibits. One can lift a gold bar or fire a cannon, for example. Children will love the lifesize dioramas. One caution for children: depictions of a pirate having an eye removed and of a pirate corpse hanging in a gibbet may be disturbing. Learn the truth about pirates at this museum, located across from the Castillo de San Marcos. The tourist brochures contain a discount coupon.
