There were four in our party and went here for lunch. We have been in many pubs in England and Scotland and we are part owners of a similar pub in Yellowknife,NT, Canada. The essential ingredient of a pub is atmosphere and this place does it right. It has the feel that a pub should have.

Two had Bangers and Mash, one fish and chips and one meat pie. All were happy with the portions and taste. We washed it down with a pint of Guinness. Total cost was $16 per person which we felt was good value. The service was excellent.

We oftenn go to grab a table outside, upstairs and down to watch the people, boats, trolleys etc. They do play Irish music : ) There is an inside bar and we have heard live music at times. If you like, there is an outside area out back as well in a courtyard like area which looks to have its own bar there as well.

My girl and I were looking for a place to get a last minute, late night bite and was told about Meehan's. When we got there we ask if we could get a bite to eat. They informed us the kitchen was closed. :( of course!!! There were still a few people sitting around the bar having a beer or drink of their choice. The bartender offered us a drink and we replied we needed to find some food first. He then offered us his hamburger which had been made for him to take home. We said thank you but no we couldn't take his dinner. Then another guy offered us his wings. We said thanks again for all the kindness but we couldn't do that to him either. Little did we know the manager (Reggie) was sitting at the end of the bar listening. He told us to sit still and have a beer and he would fire up the kitchen. To me this was going beyond their duty to serve. So, as far as Meehan's....... two thumbs up and five stars to the staff and manager. The manager Reggie is a fine example of how to run a business a treat customers.

PS. It also was great that Reggie is from Eire and shared a bit of his irish heritage.

Thank you again to the staff at Meehan's for such a great end to the night. Jan and I hope to see you again when we get back that way.

We always go here to try different irish whiskeys, but this time we had a full dinner. We started with oysters meehan which is grilled oysters with garlic, butter, and parmesean cheese, then had the coffee rubbed ribeye steak, which also has poached eggs and hollandaise sauce on it. Absolutely incredible. Then finished with the irish cream creme brulee.

Great bar surrounded by palmettos and foliage, big screen TV behind the bar(to watch the Masters). Tiki hut style-beach bar atmosphere right in the middle of old town St. Aug. Enjoyed rum punch and cool tropical air as we watched the flow of visitors strolling through the historic district. People from all over and locals(always a good sign) seated amongst the shade enjoying the old world surroundings and the charm that is the Oldest City in America.
This outdoor paradise is located behind Meehan's Irish Pub. A great place to relax and imbibe after touring the old city.
