My husband loves Guinness & I’m happy to let him indulge in a wee taste but I generally don’t like Irish pub food. Meehan’s is the exception that proves the rule. OMG the food was outstanding! The beef & stout stew was tender and creamy. The Rubens were huge & piled high with tender corned beef on think slaps of pumpernickel / rye bread. My beggars’ purse made with chicken, pesto & root vegetables in a cream sauce wrapped in the flakiest buttery puff pastry was a little bit of heaven here on earth.
The stained glass windows and dark woods reminded me of the pubs in Ireland. The bathrooms are upstairs, just like in Ireland and are not well designed. You get hit with the door when you try to wash your hands & it’s tough to get into the stalls. Again, just like Ireland. lol
If anything could be improved it would be the stuffing on the benches in the booths. The springs are shot. Once you sit, you sink about 6 inches, but you end up floating on a cloud of blissful delirium once you taste the delicious food. It was soooo good it even made up for the fact that – just like in Ireland – the wines available by the glass were uninteresting.
