“Wonderful, comfortable stay”
Reviewed March 18, 2011

We spent 4 nights here and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It is located just off I-95 and about a 15-minute drive into St Augustine. Our room was clean, quiet and comfortable. The breakfast was the standard HI Express Breakfast, but the staff kept the food well-stocked and the dining room clean up to the very last minute. The dining room only has about 10 tables and a long bar with stools--this might be an issue for folks who visit during the high-tourist season and weekends when the place is fully booked, but it wasn't a problem when we were there. Our room had comfy beds with plenty of pillows; a microwave & fridge; wi-fi; a decent flat-screen TV and plenty of space. It was cleaned promptly, without any issues. They have a heated indoor pool (no spa) which was clean and well-stocked with towels. We only encountered one very minor issue--our room safe was locked when we arrived. We called down to the desk, and a maintenance guy showed up in a few minutes to take care of it lickity-split. The hotel is situated right near a couple big outlet malls (if shopping is your thing); and there are plenty of food places nearby. All the staff were pleasant and cooperative. This place is the gold-standard for the HI Express chain (and I've been to many) and I give this HI & its staff my highest praise. If you want to be smack-dab in the middle of St Augustine, then this is not the place for you--but if you want a clean, comfortable, well-run, reasonable hotel with a quick hop on & off the I-95 as you come and go...then book-this Danno!

St Augustine is our favorite get-a-way. We have stayed in everything from a hostel to a B&B. We loved our stay here. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. The rooms were clean, well appointed, and comfortable. I'm planning a girls weekend and will be looking to stay here again.

Usually stay out at the beach when in St.Augustine, but we do stay uptown or in Historic District if visiting in fall or winter. This was our first time at this hotel, and we were very pleased with everything about it.Very quiet ,well done rooms, with nice flat screens, and the new style Holiday Inn bedding that you find in the newer properties.Desk clerk was very friendly, check in was quick and easy.We had a reservation, and in typical Priority Club fashion our room was ready when we arrived, and folio was complete, and ready to go.Continental breakfast was well stocked, fresh, and the selection was good as well.Parking is easy in their well lit parking lot, with plenty of room to park.

My wife and I stayed here for TEN days, using it as a base for exploring the St. Augustine area with day trips to Jacksonville and Daytona Beach. The desk clerk stated the hotel opened in February 2010, and it is obviously new and clean and being kept that way. Our king bed room (228) was spacious and contained flat screen TV, fridge, micorwave, hair dryer, iron and safe. Bathroom was convenient. Water pressure and temperature okay. We could see lake from our room. Breakfast was fine, as previous reviews stated, although we wished they had more fruit. Only apples and bananas - where's your Florida oranges?
There's computers off the lobby for customer use if you don't have a laptop. We used exercise room and machines worked well. Pool looks fine but doesn't open until 9 a.m. which negates an early morning swim. Rates were competitive and staff helpful. We would stay here again.

We chose this hotel based on previous reviews and since it appeared to be one of the newest hotels in St. Augustine. It is a very nice Holiday Inn Express. Staff was very nice. It was one of the cleanest hotel rooms we've stayed in, but it was not perfect. It seems like they sweep the carpets and not vacuum. I saw someone doing this in the hallway and there was some noticeable dirt (bits of paper) on the carpet in our room. The bed was comfortable if you prefer a soft mattress. Linens were all white and very clean looking. The bathroom was very clean and modern. Water pressure was kind of low and water wasn't always very hot. Very nice flat screen HDTV with Directv. The complimentary breakfast looked very good. Friday morning there were scrambled eggs and sausage, a variety of breads, english muffins, and bagels. There were also a variety of cereals, cinnamon rolls, blueberry muffins, and some other type of muffin. There was a fridge with milk, yogurt, boiled eggs. There were also apples and bananas. There were choices of peanut butter, jelly, jams, honey, butter, cream cheese. Saturday was much the same but there were omelets with ham, peppers, & cheese, and biscuits with sausage and gravy. Drinks included coffee, tea, hot chocolate, apple juice, or orange juice. Really a very nice complimentary breakfast for a hotel. The only thing I would really complain about which wasn't a big deal was that we noticed a door hanger that said they change the sheets daily but that if we wanted to help the hotel conserve water and detergent in order to better the environment, we could hang that outside the door in the morning and they would not change our sheets but would still make the bed and clean the room. Curiosity got the better of us and we marked the underside of the sheet with a pen in one corner and did not put the hanger outside our door to see if they really did change the sheets daily and we found that they did not...the room was cleaned up and the bed was made but the same sheets were on the bed. I don't really expect a hotel to change sheets daily...we only stayed two nights, but hey if they say that is their policy then I would expect them to do so but they didn't. Still, not a big deal and I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and stay there again myself. One last thing, there is a nice indoor pool and the exercise room consists of two treadmills and a stationary bike. The pictures of the lake on this site are a little misleading if you think you're going to have a great view of it. Its behind the hotel and I don't think any of the rooms really have a "view." As others mentioned its very close to I-95 and the Prime Outlet shops. I would say its about 10-15 minutes from the historic district.
