“on top of delicious food you feel like you are with family.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 15, 2010

New to the st. Augustine area we have tried many places to eat in the past 6 months. Casa Benedetto is our favorite find. A quaint A frame with everything we were looking for. The food is absolutely delicious. Brought up Italian with Sicilian background it was like "coming home". Talked at length to the owners the very first visit....where we learned why the food was so good. Only the best ingredients and all made from scratch. From Appetizers to the desert...EVERYTHING is homemade and delicious. Garlic is cut fresh..lemons are squeezed fresh...everything is made to order.!!! Have been back often since our first visit. Have taken company there too. Everyone is made to feel like old friends or family. The owners are hard working, hands on and the most "real" people you will ever meet. You leave not only full and satifsfied but also having a new friend....even the waitresses feel like family by the time you leave.

“Barely average food and service.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 11, 2010

I have eaten at Casa Benedetto 4 times- once for breakfast, once for lunch, and twice for dinner. The service has always been very slow even for homemade from scratch food. The tables, chairs, etc. have been upgraded over time and are much nicer now than when Casa Benedetto had just opened. It's certainly better than fast food or preprepaired, but barely average for made from scratch. Won't go back again.

Thank you so much for visiting us to sample all our menu items from breakfast to lunch to dinner. We appreciate your noticing our continual efforts to make our seating more comfortable for our guests. Because our space is so limited it is a challenge to make the most of our quaint little building. Most of our visitors find the intimate atmosphere pleasant and enjoy
the feeling of being almost in Grandma's kitchen dining with family.
We are aware that sometimes our food takes a while to be prepared, especially when the dining room fills up all at once. However, we feel strongly that the results are worth the wait, as do our most loyal and supportive customers. Good authentic homemade food from scratch doesn't happen quickly. If you are in a hurry we are not the place for you. I have a few customers who have gotten around this problem by planning and calling ahead when they are pressed for time at lunch time. By giving us a heads up we are able to be ready for them when
they arrive so they can enjoy their meals without rushing. We pride ourselves on trying to give the best service possible and meet all special requests. I am sorry that you find our service too slow but we will not sacrifice homemade freshness for speedy service.
We are curious to know what menu items you tried that you found "barely average" .
We cannot fix things that we do not know are broken. No one is perfect and perhaps there are some things that need tweaking. However the majority of guests have been exceptionally pleased with our food, service and atmosphere.
Perhaps you will reconsider and visit with us again. The fact that you tried us for all three meals and came back four times tells me that you must have enjoyed the experience on some level.
My hope is that if you do come in again and find something unsatisfactory you will bring it to my attention so that we can correct the problem and make your visit as memorable as most reviewers on trip advisor and Yelp have been kind enough to describe.

“so good, we had to go back the next night and we were only there for two days”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 11, 2010

The minute we walked in the door, we felt like family. The room was warm, welcoming and quaint. The food was amazing; the manicotti was so light that it simply melted in my mouth. The next night, I had the eggplant parmesan and it was just as awesome as the manicotti. My partner had a craving for veal piccata, which was not on the menu, so they made it for him anyway. It was funny to see everyone look at each other when the banging started in the kitchen; everyone knew someone had ordered a veal dish. Everything was made fresh, but the wait wasn't any longer than anywhere else. The server, Diana, with her husky New Jersey accent was the best part of the whole experience. It was as if we had been friends for years.

“He would not share so we each had 2 desserts!! In a word - GO!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 7, 2010

We are enjoying a a long weekend in St. Augustine. On our list of musts was Benedettos Caffe and we are glad we made the drive (about 15-20 min S of St Augustine...). Given the reviews, my expectations were high. Our evening FAR surpassed my expectations.

The food is divine, the restaurant cozy (7 tables!) and the service is terrrific. Diana anticipated our every need without being intrusive. For a short period of time we had the place to ourselves (Mon night) and enjoyed talking with Diana and the Tarantinos (the owners).

Robin, (Mrs. Tarantino - the chef) did not believe 2 people were ordering 2 desserts apiece and had to see for herself.. however if you are faced with choosing between the Cassata and Tiramisu and a husband who after taking a bite, would not share his tiramisu... what choice do you have?

Anyone living within 30 miles of this gem should go.

btw... for our entrees we had the manicotti and cavatelli.. each a piece of heaven.

“Homemade Food and atmosphere Wonderful-Will go again!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 29, 2010

Went upon TripAdvisor reviews and we were not disappointed. Had the Chicken Francese and the braijole(sp?) and you could tell they were truly homemade with love and attention to detail. This is NOT a chain and is NOT fast food-if you are in a rush and just want a quick meal go get one somewhere else! I will relax and wait patiently for quality and be rewarded as in this case. Try the rice balls -they are wonderful. The homemade tiramisu and cannoli don't disappoint either. The service was friendly and attentive while not coming off as phony or pretentious.
