“Clean, Friendly and Great Place to Stay”
Reviewed May 13, 2013

The entire staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel is clean and modern. The pool/hot tub area is quiet and backs up to a wooded area which makes for nice scenary. The rooms are average size to other hotels and are spacious enough. The location is great, it's just off the interstate, two outlet malls within a couple of blocks and downtown St. Augustine is about 10 min. away. Parking is limited in downtown but the hotel has a shuttle and of course you can purchase tickets for the trolley system - which is the best way to get around. The best feature of this hotel is the continental breakfast - it's a full breakfast (ie: waffles, eggs, cereal, fruit etc) and delicious!

Room Tip: You can request a mini fridge, they'll bring it to your room.

Staff were very helpful and courteous. The check-in clerk told us that The Red Train stops at the hotel and the tickets for that day were two-4-one for seniors @ $19.99, tickets good for 3 days!. Thoroughly enjoyed two days of hop on hop off experiences in St. Augustine. Hot tub at night was soooooooooooo relaxing and hot breakfast in morning got us off to a great start.

Only con had to make a u-turn to get to hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for early check-in.

Stayed 4 nights and could not have been more pleased. Staff was extremely courteous and accommodating. Breakfast was always good and ready promptly at 6:30.

Only downside was the weather the first 2 days!!

I wasn't thrilled with this hotel. I usually stay in the Courtyard chain, but the Fairfield offered free breakfast, and I was using points, so this was the more inexpensive option! The room was small, 2 queen/double beds, a tv, and a desk was about it. I was hoping for a microwave and mini fridge, but they didn't exist. Kind of sucks too, because I had left-overs I was hoping to keep. I was not a fan of the 1 cup coffee maker, there were 2 of us, and only 1 packet for 1 cup of coffee, I had to ask the front desk for more. We turned down room service the first night, and they left a nice little package of fresh towels, and toiletries in front of our door. Front desk associates were all friendly. The breakfast did consist of hot foods, like eggs, etc. Getting to the hotel is a little difficult especially if you drive a large SUV. You have to make a U-turn on a curbed, not very wide road.

The location is great if you love shopping as it is right in the entrance to the outlet mall. There are a few fast food locations that are easy to get too, as well as a gas station. The hotel is pretty on the inside and modernized. Just really nothing special, but I will use them again!

We three stayed one night in mid-April. The inn is easy to find, but note you need to make a U-turn when northbound about 200 feet past the hotel entrance on the 4-lane mall access road to get to it, since it's on the southbound side of the road. Reception was very friendly. The one elevator was speedy enough. We were on the second floor opposite the parking lot. It was quiet. The air conditioning made the usual 'humming' noise, but was effective. The bathroom was good, but there was no individual fan; only an air vent. The unit was clean. There is both wired and wireless internet, which worked well. The room had two double beds - not queens. The room was compact and efficiently laid out, but there wasn't a feeling of 'roominess'. The beds were comfortable. We used the pool, which was nice and clean. The hot tub was not working. Note that they permit smoking in the pool area, which surprised us a bit. Breakfast was good. They had adequate seating for the crowd on hand at 08:30, but we thought it might get crowded if the hotel were busier. There was a good variety of food, including scrambled eggs and sausage patties along with a selection of cereals and juices. They had only one pepper shaker available on the food counter. Oddly, they had no salt - they had run out (we thought one of the staff could have gone to the Publix grocery store down the highway to buy some). We easily arranged a one-hour late check out at 13:00. Overall a very good hotel, but a few shortcomings kept us from rating it a 5.

Room Tip: The rooms on the east side, directly opposite the parking lot, are on the side away from the Interst...

We have stayed at Fairfield Inns in the past and have been satisfied. But this one needs serious management attention. Although most of the staff seemed to try hard, and were all congenial, the service & quality were just not here.

For starters, there was insufficient coffee in the room for our "wake up cup" before going down to breakfast. Sufficient coffee was left on following mornings after leaving a note for the maid. There was no floor mat to step onto when exiting the tub. And the carpet needed vacuuming when we arrived and on the 2nd day. After leaving the maid a note it was finally cleaned.

Breakfast was mediocre at best. Seating was very limited, lines were long to get to the food of which there often was insufficient quantity. And when I searched for the pepper shakers I was told "I know there is one here somewhwere". I suggested that the attendant go to Wal-Mart and buy some. Next day several were available. The waffle machine went up in smoke (literally) on the first morning so waffles were not an option during our stay.

This was a decent location for visiting St Augustine, but given a choice we will stay elsewhere next time.

Room Tip: Avoid "connecting rooms" unless you are close friends or relatives with the folks staying...
