OK we're with three kids (4, 5 and 7), it's raining and we're stuck at the aligator farm !
It was FANTASTIC!!!
Turns out aligators move more in the rain! There was lots of cover, the beer was cheap (and in souviner mugs to boot) and the playarea had a picnic table where you can observe vultures ripping apart rats.
This was so mush fun and we had great views of the animals and hands on shows.
Worth every penny!

We just visited the St. Augustine Alligator Farm this past weekend. It was a great experience for us and for our two children. There are tons of smaller alligators that you can throw food to and 50 or so really big alligators that are part of the feeding show. The woman who was doing the show had to beat the alligators on the nose repeatedly when they kept coming after her and from behind her trying to get to the food. For 50$ a person or 85$ a couple (you have to be 18), you can go into the giant alligator pen and touch one and have your picture taken. We also got to throw it some snacks. For 9$ the kids can hold a small alligator or albino alligator and have their picture taken. We did all of this and have some very cool mementos!

Myself, husband and two girls 8 and 11 visited the Alligator Farm this past week and enjoyed the two and a half hours we were there. It is a small, very nicely maintained park with more alligators and crocodile species than I have ever seen. The Land of the Crocodiles is more of a zoo type approach, with small enclosures for each type of crocodile. Neat to see, but we moved rather quickly through this area. The shows we saw (Florida's Animal Friends and Realm of the Alligator) were brief and informative. But the coolest part of the park in my opinion are the two alligator areas- one is a lagoon, zoo type enclosure and the other is a large swamp filled with alligators and nesting birds. I have never seen so many alligators in one spot. Very cool to just sit and watch. Lots of great picture opportunities. Don't miss the alligator feedings, very cool and impressive demonstration- the alligators come right up out of the water to get the food. I was disappointed in the Maximo display (large alligator exhibit)- he was in the water and there was so much algae on the inside of the underwater viewing tank that you could barely make out what was in there). The park does seem a bit overpriced given that it is a small park and is not a whole day attraction, but was definitely worth going to once. If you have a AAA card, it does offer a small discount (2.00 off I think).

If you have a 2 or 3 hours to kill this is an enjoyable way to do it. The displays are great and they have glass all the way down to the floor so even the little ones have an easy time seeing everything. I have never seen so many variety's of alligators in my life but the best part had to be the shows and feedings...don't miss them. The birds on the boardwalk are also incrediable and you can almost reach out and touch them. Admission is reasonable and the facility clean and neat. This is one of those affordable things to do that no one ever thinks of...but more should. Afterward's go to the St. Augustine Lighthouse right across the street...then head south on A1A for about 7 miles to "Saltwater Cowboys" fish camp where you can eat alligator and overlook the intercoastal while you do it. An enjoyable day!

We discovered the St. Augustine Alligator Farm the last time we were in St. Augustine, three years ago. It's rather small, but a lot of fun, even for our teen-aged daughter. We went back to the park last week on our visit to St. Augustine, and it was as interesting as I'd remembered. Kids loved it a second time. It is a little expensive, but what in St. Augustine isn't?? We paid nearly the same amount to get into Ripley's, and this was MUCH better. We think it's well worth the trip.
