Despite its great location and reasonable rates, I found some disappointments in our recent stay at BayFront Inn. Our room was on the ground level with one king size bed, it seemed recently remodeled with basic motel kind of furniture unlike the impression that I got from some of the positive review. it’s just nothing to speak of, very plain furniture and no artwork on the wall, poor lighting. The bathroom, on the other hand, was nicely done with high quality hardware.

Their complimentary breakfast was worse than our expectation, not much to begin with. We stayed two nights there, by mid-morning the coffee was lukewarm, the orange juice empty, tables un-cleaned, and the desk clerk playing solitaire on the only computer available to guests. There was very little attention or interest in seeing to the guests. Having stayed in towns in Georgia with warm Southern hospitality, we felt very disappointed with her unfriendly attitude, and found it very unprofessional.

Parking in the historic district can be frustrating, so it was great to be able to leave our car at the motel to explore the town. Yet, it is on a busy street and the bridge cross street is under construction. Unfortunately, there is not much reasonable hotel alternative in the historic district, but I would have been happy to pay $50 more to stay at the Hilton down the street for a better customer service experience.

Stayed at the Bayfront January 16-19, 2009. From reservations to check out, the staff was friendly and efficient. The room (2 queen beds) was a little small but clean and recently renovated. The inn is about two blocks away from the historic district which renders it convenient yet removed from the crowds and ambient noise. Be aware that the continental breakfast is just that, certainly adequate but do not anticppate a B & B level culinary experience (you ain't paying for it so don't expect it). This is not a luxury property but it is clean, convenient, and safe. If you have more then 3 in your party, you may want to consider two rooms. Overall, you get 3 star level service at a two star rate. An excellent value and I would not hesitate to return.

This place has a fantastic location if you are wanting a hotel near the historic district (all the beautiful spanish buildings). the hotel rooms are very clean and have nice showers. this is one of the best deals in st augustine, has quality and is VERY CLOSE walking distance to everything. you can see the bay from the window, but not a huge open view. the rooms are a little small, but well worth the money. the only downside i could find is there is no fridge and they dont give you alot of towels. if you are unfamiliar with the st augustine area and want to stay close to the town, stay in this hotel! (if you want to stay for under $100). we were also considering the edgewater inn, but this is right on a busy busy highway. most of the other st augustine hotels that are under $100 are NOT within walking distance of the town.

overall, very pleased!

We recently got back from our trip to St. Augustine. We didn't have reservations, as it was a spur of the moment - let's go to St. Augustine. This was a 1st time staying here, as the place we normally stay at had a 2 night minimum and we were only here for one. We had read the reviews for the BayFront Inn, so we decidede to check them out . We were happy to find they had rooms available, so we booked on for the night. We had a very nice king room and were pleased with everything. The room was decorated very nice, and the bed was comfy The lady behind the desk was very pleasent and helpful with any questions we had.. We would definitely stay there again.

The reason I gave this hotel 4 stars was because there were a few flaws. The rooms have obviously been remodeled, but the hotel forgot to incorporate some important things. Let's get these negative flaws out of the way so I can tell you about all the positive factors!

1.) There weren't any additional hooks to hang towels...the only towel rack was located in the back of the shower. Yes, in the shower.
2.) The hotel only provided us with 2 washclothes, but I guess you could ask for more if you wanted.
3.) There was only one mirror in the room and this can be a problem if you have more than one person trying to get ready in the morning.
4.) It felt like there was no A/C in the bathroom...only a vent to help out when someone took a shower.
5.) The room had it's own themostat to control the temperature in the room, but we had to turn it really low to keep it from shutting off. The room seemed to get hot quickly.
6.) The breakfast was small with only coffee, juice, and pre-packaged muffins.
7.) The ice machine was out of ice one morning while we were there.
8.) There wasn't much counter space near the sink.
9.) There were a few stains on the carpet in our room, but they were near the door and not a problem for us.
10.) No soap dish to hold the hand soap.

Ok, I know this sounds like a lot of negative factors, but these were mostly little things that some people may not have a problem with. Now, on with the good stuff...

1.) The room was nicely decorated. The beds had lovely sheets, the furniture was nice, and the bathroom was beautiful (especially the sink).
2.) The location is across from the bay and not beside the tourist-type attractions/shops. For me, this was a plus. Yes, you can walk to many places from this hotel, but I wouldn't walk to everything. We did drive to some places further out.
3.) The hotel staff was nice for the most part.
4.) The shower was very nice! I could move the shower head up and down to my liking. It also had 3 different spray features. The silver around the drain was worn off some, but I think it's because it's an older tub. The water pressure was good too. It was nice to take a shower at this hotel after walking around all day.
6.) The bathroom contained two lighting fixures. One near the shower and one over the mirror.
5.) After looking around St. Augustine, I believe the BayFront Inn is one of the best places to stay. I don't think you can do much better for the price.
6.) The entertainment center (tv stand), the nightstand, and a small table in the sitting area all contained drawers.
7.) Free parking! You hang a decal from your rear-view mirror and that's it. No fee and you can come and go as you please.
8.) Good size rooms. They weren't huge rooms, but it didn't feel cramped. I would say the rooms are larger than a traditional standard room.

Overall, I was pleased with the room and the hotel. I really think it's one of the best places to stay if you want to stay in the Historic St. Augustine area. Sure, you could spend lots of money to stay somewhere just as nice or a little nicer. But I after leaving St. Augustine, I really think this hotel is one to consider. I believe you can't do much better than the BayFront Inn.

we stayed here for 2 nights at beginning of june and i was so pleased i picked this place. first the location was perfect, on the edge of historic district and overlooking the river/inland waterway, the location couldn`t be bettered as you could sit outside your room on the very nice wrought iron chairs(no plastic here!) or on deck which has thoughtfully been built which gives an even better view. another huge plus point was being able to park your car directly outside your room. there is a small pool great for the kids to amuse themselves while we sipped a beer on said deck!
the rooms are very tastefully decorated/furnished. we had the 2-bedroom suite which was perfect for us as it also had a living room so slept 5 of us in 3 room.s................perfect for the larger family, i wish more hotels would do this we so often have to buy 2 rooms or cram into 1 bed-suites.
our king bed room was huge, so much so that i would like to suggest an en-suite shower room is added as 1 bathroom for 5 , possibly 6 people is a little time-consuming in the mornings.
i think they may be building a breakfast room if so this would counter the only other negative i had..............only 1 juice and muffins/coffee in the small lobby is offered at present , a small continental buffet would be a huge improvement.

My parents stayed here on our family vacation. They absolutely loved it. It is close to the historic downtown area but it is off the main road so it is very quet. It is right across from the bay so they could sit out and watch the boats sail around. The pool was nice and clean and the staff was always curteous. The room was beautiful with plenty of space and a large bathroom. So different from a chain hotel that has the same ol' furnishings.

Our family will definitely stay here again!
