The motel is reminiscent of the old Florida motels, but upgraded, clean, very comfy beds and so close to all downtown and things to see and do. I loved that it borders the historic business, tourist, college and old residential areas. We parked and walked everywhere. It was a great stay.

This hotel boasts a water-front view, very nice and clean rooms, and a comfortable setting to spend your vacation. We had a wonderful time in this hotel, the staff were mostly friendly. The only reason I gave four stars instead of five is because they offer a "continental breakfast"....but you cant count on it....the breakfast consisted of three types of bread to make toast with, oatmeal out of a crockpot, cold cereal, oj, and coffee. I would definately stay here again and make other plans for breakfast! Next time, I would probably give five stars because I know what to expect. :)

This cottage is on the owner of the hotel's property. It is on the far end of their yard, so it is very private from the main house. The street is very cute and quite. Street parking only, but we never had any trouble parking right outside the cottage. The cottage itself is very spacious and cute, has all the amenities (kitchen, washer/dryer, large living space, dining area and a lovely private courtyard)
BUT.....
When we arrived, we were very excited, this place seemed to be perfect, UNTIL we opened the front door. There was a very large, dead cockroach on the floor and it felt as if you were walking on sand (tile floors). We soon realized that it was not sand but THOUSANDS of dead ants. Now I understand that this is Florida, roaches and ants are a part of living down here, but this was ridiculous. We were so disgusted. We called the front desk and although the person was polite, they did not seem overly concerned and the comment was "well this is Florida you know." I requested that they send someone over the clean right away, otherwise we would find another hotel. They did come and clean right away and it was much better, but it was hard to shake the feeling that it was not really clean.
In all fairness, what we think may have happened is that they clean the place after someone checks out, but if it is a few days before someone else checks in, they do not go back to ensure that there are not dead bugs everywhere, It was very obvious that they spray, but you expect that when renting a place, they would check it before someone checks in, especially since it is offsite from their hotel.
We had read another review where someone mentioned the dead bugs, but we thought maybe it was exaggerated, but I assure you it was not.
We personally would not rent here again because of this, which is unfortunate. The location to town was just a few blocks, we left our car parked almost the entire time we were in St. Aug.
If you rent, do not hesitate to make them come clean if you experience the same issue. If it does not gross you out, this place could be a hidden gem.

For those wanting to get away from the usual "big" named hotels this is a gem! Sitting right across the marina with a view of the bridge of Lions and the lighthouse you just can't beat it.

Rooms, while small, are clean and neat. You are also only a short walk from the historical downtown area. This is a must try!

Very much enjoyed our stay here because it was so close to the historic town we could walk to everything but it had the feel of a regular motel with pool and outdoor gazebo looking over the intercoastal waterway. Simple but sufficient continental breakfast served in the lobby. Room and beds were comfortable.

The Bayfront Inn is located on 138 Avenida Menendez in the Historic District of St. Augustine, FL., within easy walking distance of Historic center of the city. One portion of the Inn is the Roriguez House, which was built in the 1700's and the Inn has been owned by the Whetstone family since 1944.
The Inn provides free parking on the premises, overlooking the Bay and the rooms have been updated over the years. The room we stayed in was very well done. It is a good size room with a King bed that was pleasantly firm. It has wifi, an HD TV, a coffee maker, an iron and ironing board, wall mounted a/c and heat control. Most rewarding to me were the large plush towels and a shower head that provided the best water pressure I have found anywhere, including some very luxurious hotels.
They also provide a complimentary continental breakfast.
Based on everything else; I am forgiving them for not having a complete hot breakfast, and give them a Five Star rating.

Great location on the bay front, as the name suggests, and within walking distance of most attractions. Looks inviting from outside but a bit disappointing inside, small room, noisy aircon, no restaurant or bar, and very basic breakfast.
