“Perfect motel for budget-minded travelers”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 10, 2011

Found the Anastasia Inn to be well cared for! This motel is clean, neat and we found the bed comfortable. My husband and I stayed for over a week there last winter to explore St. Augustine and the area. The motel is not downtown, but the location is not bad at all. Does take some planning to avoid the traffic across the bridge into the heart of town. Good value.

I always check out tripadvisor before making any accomodations anywhere and nearly all of the reviews indicated this was a good place to stay. I should have paid better attention to the one review that said it was awful. Not having actually decided what days we were to be in St Augustine, I tried making reservations online for two nights in a row. The second night came back saying I needed to call about it which I immediately did. It turned out that the rooms were available both nights but the owner decided to raise the prices on both nights rather than what they were online. I was very distraught but considering it was the last minute, we haggled a bit and I decided I'd discuss with him face to face.

We got to the hotel just before dark and upon confrontation, the owner did abide by his original prices. Then we got the key to the room and I was in a state of shock when we opened the door. It was like stepping into a sleazy 60's cheap motel that you see in the movies. I was not sure of the cleanliness but immediately did a check for bed bugs. The mattresses were very old and the sheets were yellowed. ugh

This inn is very close to downtown area - one negative is the wait to go over the Bridge of Lions, but you can time yourself to avoid that. The rooms were comfortable, clean, no trouble with check-in or check-out. The temperature was a little on the cool side for Florida during our visit, so we did not use the pool. The room did not have a hair dryer, so girls be aware of that. If you are just looking for a place to lay your head, this a good deal.

This hotel was perfect for us as we have simple needs and are on a budget. Although a hotel downtown would have been more convenient, this was close enough and we didn't have too much of a problem with the distance.

The rooms were clean and a great value. I would definitely stay there again.

On a whim we decided to drive up to St. Augustine for the holiday weekend. We wanted something close to the historic downtown, but not too expensive. I read a few reviews here and they were fine. They had a room available. We arrived and found it to be clean, with enough room. It is an older building but well kept. The room had a fridge and microwave which we like because we like refreshments in the room. There was also a small table and two armchairs, and that is a plus if you eat in the room. (They do have a free breakfast but no eating room.) The breakfast was just fine. My husband and I agreed the little muffins and the bagels were tasty. They had butter packs, cream cheese and jelly for spreads. There was also cereal, orange juice, coffee and milk. The bathroom was clean, there were plenty of towels and the sink is separate from the bathroom, which I like. It appears to be family run and they were all pleasant. It is very convenient to downtown. There is just a bridge to cross and then you are there. The only problem is it is a drawbridge and there is traffic sometimes. The neighborhood had several restaurants mentioned in the guidebooks but we ate in the downtown. This is not luxury. If you are looking for that it is probably not for you. It was a good experience and very acceptable accommodations for a reasonable price during a recession which left us free to spend more on eating out and other things.

It is a small two story Mom and Pop type of place that is clean, friendly, and located relatively well for exporing the area. We found it through this site and the reviews along with the price sold us. It turned out to be less expensive than the reviews said. The rooms are small but we didn't come here to stay in the room. The pool is tiny so if you are going to hang in the pool try somewhere else. If you are looking for a nice clean place to base your explorations of the area this is it. If you are going this way it's definately worth the price.
