“Nice older hotel”
Reviewed August 8, 2011

I stayed here to attend a concert at St Augustine. The location was perfect for my needs. It is an older hotel that could use some updating, but was clean & comfortable.Nice quiet location. Compared to the other hotels in the area, i think this was an excellent stay & will stay here again. Only down side is the limited parking, 1 space per room only.

We booked in person, and told the innkeeper that we were celebrating our 11th wedding anniversary. When we checked in he wished us a happy anniversary. It seemed to me that as people checked in ones with children went to one end of the hotel and those without were at another end. I enjoyed the set up of the room, the tea bag in the coffee basket, the retractible clothes line in the bathroom, the saltwater exchange for the pool instead of chlorine. The pool is small but perfect for cooling off. The hotel is 3 blocks to the Bridge of Lions, which takes one to the historic district and bayfront. They have a shuttle stop for the red train tour ($18.00 for a 3 day pass with off on priveledges and free parking). They are across the street from Stewarts Market-cash only, but they have an ATM, groceries, fresh produce, an eclectic selection of groceries, local condiments, jellies, and favorites, sandwiches and subs. They are close to O'steens, Sea-Fair, Fratelli's, the British Pub and Zhanra's. They are also close to the Alligator Farm, Gypsy Cab Co. (restaurant and comedy club), the lighthouse, the amphitheater, and some shopping.

Room Tip: Smile and be friendly.

The room was spacious and came with mini fridge and microwave. It is a cozy little inn with a very small pool. If in good health you can walk to the historic distric across the bridge. The office is open until 8 p.m and does not reopen until 7:30 a.m . It say a continental breakfast is included we never tried it. The bathroom needed a deep cleaning along the edge of the wall.

I've stayed at this motel during birding season several times each year for the last 5 years because of its proximity to Alligator Farm. We spend the morning shooting pictures and then come back for a rest.

I've noticed a steady decline in the cleanliness. This year will likely be my last. Just can't believe that my feet came away from the carpet almost black.... yuck.

They need to get this under control quick or it will become just another decaying blight on the already stressed neighborhood.

I am very sorry that the room was not acceptable to you. I could not address the problem while you were staying with us, as I did not receive any complaints or prolblems, until reading the review. The property does clean the carpets, and we will definitely increase the frequency of steam cleaning the carpets.

Stayed three nights in April while in town for daughter's college graduation. On previous visits we've stayed at a variety of hotels both in town and on the Interstate and thought we would give one on the Island a try due to a very attractive advance-booking price. Our three nights came to $236 and change. This is an older hotel, but in a good state of repair and the room was clean. One big advantage is that it is only about a 10 minute walk over the Bridge of Lions to the historic district. As with virtually all of the other hotels of this age/condition that we've tried, the room had a humidity problem. Although there was no sign of mold or mildew - which we've run across on more than one occasion at other properties - I always had a slightly clammy feeling while in the room which made sleeping less than totally comfortable. This seems to be a very common problem with the older hotels that use individual through-the-wall ac units; they do a very poor job of dehumidifying. The Anastasia, at least, did not have condensate water dripping onto the carpet, which we have seen more than once at other places. All in all not a bad value at an average per night cost of about $80. including taxes.

We stayed at Anastasia Inn on our first-ever visit to St. Augustine. Swayed by the bargain rate and mostly-complementary reviews, we booked direct through their site for our long weekend get-away. Located on the main road on the way to the beach, it's easy to find.

The Anastasia Inn is located about 1/2 mile on the beach island; just a short walk over the Bridge of Lions. We were happy to have the exercise after the tasty indulgences available in downtown! Even with the rainy and chilly weather we had, the walk was pleasant and safe; there were sidewalks the entire way. In fact, we only used our car once over the weekend and that was to head down the beach.

Motel is pleasant. Proprietor was friendly. Property is no-frills. Room was clean. Decor matches the 1990's construction. Shower and commode in had separating door from sink and counter. We had a mini-fridge and microwave. Plenty of space in dresser and closet. Small table and chairs. With a king bed, there was still plenty of room.

Continental breakfast was coffee, milk, juice, muffins, cereal. Perfect snack to tide us until lunch.

Because it is on the main thoroughfare, we heard some road noise, but not enough to be bothered by it. There is a small pool and its slightly heated, but it was too chilly out for us to use.

For us, the trade offf of long walk versus higher rate was a good one. I'd rather spend the money on a nice meal or souvenirs for the kids. I highly recommend this property for travelers like my husband and I (budget, reasonable expectations, willing to walk).

Found the Anastasia Inn to be well cared for! This motel is clean, neat and we found the bed comfortable. My husband and I stayed for over a week there last winter to explore St. Augustine and the area. The motel is not downtown, but the location is not bad at all. Does take some planning to avoid the traffic across the bridge into the heart of town. Good value.
