The Saragossa Inn B&B
Ranked #25 of 31 St. Augustine B&B and Inns
Reviewed August 13, 2007

We stayed at the Sargossa Inn for 3 nights. July 28 - Aug 1, 2007. The one thing I found wrong with our stay was that we couldn't stay longer. Well the fact we had to leave at all was very upsetting. I would really like to just move in. My 10 year old daughter, my husband and I were so impressed with this Inn. Gibb's too. He is so wonderful. He greeted us just as we arrived and was so accommodating. He was even able to give us a tour of the rooms not yet occupied. (Which was only a couple because he was pretty full.) Our room was so beautiful. We stayed in the Gardenmist. The pictures just don't do the Inn justice. It looks even better in person. The gardens are so beautiful. The porch was so inviting and relaxing full of beautiful well kept plants.
Breakfast was amazing. Gibbs is a wonderful cook. And desserts....oh my goodness.....Dessert at breakfast is such a great idea.....then you have the whole day to walk it off. Now let me tell you about the coffee. Gibb's Coffee!!! It needs a warning label!! It was also incredible. His own special blend and boy was it addicting. We definitely left everymorning full and awake.
Gibb's had a full diningroom each morning and handled it so well. We met such great people at breakfast. Gibb's gave all of us excellent suggestions of things to do and places to eat and he was right on every time.
My advice is definitely stay at this Inn. But three nights is just not long enough. We will be going back very soon and very often and telling everyone we know how great it is. I will beg Gibb's each time to let us move in.
Have a great time when you go! Say Hi to Gibb's for us!!!!

A last minute trip became a wonderfully relaxing time at the Saragossa. My wife and I arrived on Sunday afternoon. Gibbs greeted us and showed us to our rooms and offered to show us around the house. While he toured us around we learn a sense of what this old Sears House was like at its original construction. He also gave us a great suggestion for dinner too.

The room was very comfortable and the patio very inviting as we enjoyed adult beverage and discussed plans for the balance of our stay.

But the breakfast is what we (who enjoy BnB’s) look forward to and this proved itself to be nothing less than delightful. Gibbs is not only personable, but a fantastic chef. We sat down to a unbelievable blend of coffee and fresh fruit. The main course was an omelet with fresh vegetables and meat. Personally, I’m always nervous when ordering omelets at restaurants as they often tend to over cook the eggs. This was not the case! Light, fluffy and delicious. If this was not enough… Gibbs out did himself with a phenomenal pastry for desert.

If you are visiting St Augustine look into the Saragossa – you will be glad you did.

My family had the most enjoyable stay at the Saragossa Inn. It was our first B&B experience and what a delight! We have two teenage boys
and were able to rent them another room close to ours. We thought we were on a second honeymoon. Our room was a dream with a great clawfoot tub and plenty of room to be comfortable. We had a private porch with plenty of outdoor seating to relax and read. The inn has a serene setting, romantic lighting at night, and a peaceful trickling fountain which we had the benifit of being lulled to sleep by during our stay in the Tidewater room. The boys were able to use the inn's bicycles to commute all around the quaint town, and had a ball. My husband enjoyed the inn's easy wi-fi access.

The breakfasts were beautifully prepared in an English cottage style dining room. Each morning the three course breakfast was special and different. My favorite breakfast began with a fruit cup, included omelets that our host cheerfully prepared to order for each guest, and ended with a rum-raisin dessert that I couldn't pass up. Lunch was never required after such a large breakfast. The tables were attractively set with linen, china and flowers.

The affable host, relaxing atmosphere, the delightful company of the other guests at breakfast made the Saragossa a memorable stay. We plan to return bringing with us family and freinds to share in another wonderful stay.

We had a wonderful time at the Saragossa Inn where we spent a week in mid-April. Ou room , the Southwind, was very spacious, attractive, and comfortable. We liked the fact that the rooms have a private entrance and you can come and go as you please. We liked having a small fridge, bar sink, coffeepot, the sound sytem, and the many other amenities. The private porches are a wonderful addition.
We walked to town on ocassion, but other times drove the two blocks to a "park & ride" where we took the sightseeing bus.
Our host Gibbs prepared magnificent, gurmet breakfasts, that even included dessert! We enjoyed the other guests' company and we all lingered over this bountiful amount of delicious food and beverages. The dining room is very inviting with murals on the wall and antique china plates on the table.
Our host also gracioiusly provided other information about stores and attractions in the area. We plan to stay at the Inn again for a week in the fall. We do not hesitate to highly recommend this Inn..

This place is great! My husband and I recently booked our first B&B stay here. At first we were a little concerned because of the mixed reviews. We were pleasantly surprised...it is just adorable. It is a brief walk to/from "downtown" George Street...perfect for walking off the amazing breakfasts.
Our room was recently changed to "Tidewater", formally Anne's Alcove. It was a good size and equipped with everything we needed for a perfect weekend. My only complaint was the bed. Although the bedding was clean and very cozy, the mattress was worn and it wasn't as comfortable as we had hoped. It certainly could be upgraded. The claw foot tub a great feature and way to wind down after a day of walking.
The breakfast by far exceeded our expectations. We stayed just two nights and were excited that both days the breakfast was completely different from the other. One day we had our breakfast in our room, it was French toast stuffed with cream cheese and preserves, along with sausage and fruit cocktail. Once we were done eating we received a knock on the door that we had forgotten our desert... YES..Desert for Breakfast!!! It was warm, peach cobbler! Amazing! The portions were huge too! The following day we ate in the adorable dining room upstairs. Our breakfast was served on antique china and everything was so elegantly prepared and decorated. Gibbs (owner) was very attentive to every detail, but was also warm and good company at the same time. It was a great way to start the day. Our breakfast that day was an onion and cheese soufflé' with sausage links and another amazing desert.
We felt so at home here, yet our private entrance to our room gave us so much privacy. We would definitely stay here again and strongly recommend it!
