“Pet Friendly and Conveniently Located”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 7, 2013

We really enjoyed our stay in The Saragossa Inn. It is walking distance from many sites and restaurants. We called last minute and they welcomed us and our two small dogs. We stayed in the Gardenmist room with a King Bed. Nicely decorated, but be on notice that the bathroom in this room is very small with a tiny shower.

The brunch was delicious. A gourmet quiche. Fruit. And a dessert. Delicious rum raisin pudding. There were coffee, tea and juice selections. The owner is the chef, and he arranged for the city tour to pick up right out side of The Saragossa Inn. How convenient. By the way, the tour is not a very good deal if you are only going to be in St. Augustine 1 day. I would highly suggest it if you are staying 2 or 3 days.

Parking is also included and very convenient.

Another heads up. Our room was up a very short set of stairs. The stairs were narrow and our older Yorkie fell off of them. We don't have stairs at our house, so it was just too challenging for her. So, if you have an older dog, check the stairs out carefully to make sure you dog can handle them.

Also, there is no ice in the room. You need to ask for ice and they will give you a small bucket.

We would stay at The Saragossa again.

Room Tip: If a bigger bathroom is important to you, please make sure the room you have selected meets your req...

We stayed at Saragossa Inn this weekend for the Mumford and Sons concert. The B&B is well kept and beautifully decorated. We stayed in the Gardenmist room. I loved that the room had a microwave and fridge. The bed was soft and really comfortable. The owners were great in providing us with info for the concert as well as maps for St. Augustine. The breakfast the next morning was amazing! The dining room is cozy, yet beautiful. The food was amazing and we didn't even need to eat lunch that day because we were so full. You can't beat the location, just a short walk from St. George. We will most definitely be returning here on future trips to St. Augustine.

Our 3 day stay was a last minute idea over this past labor day weekend. Because we have a 65 lb and 50 lb dogs our choices are limited. By happenstance we found this Inn with a vacancy AND they allow dogs! Gibbs went out of his way to ensure the four of us were comfortable, even going so far as to seat us at the one lovely outside table and ensure there were dog treats and a bowl of water with our brunch! The location is absolutely perfect, very walkable - 2 blocks from the heart of the historic pedestrian mall and town center, and located in a historic neighborhood. The room was homey, comfortable, and with the right amount of amenities. One word of caution though - leave your diets behind because Gibbs serves 3 course brunches that will leave you full and energized for a day's worth of activities! Would I come back? In a heartbeat! Absolutely the place to stay!

Room Tip: They only have a couple of rooms tgat allow pets so book early to ensure the whole family can come!

My wife and I stayed here for a couple of nights recently as a base to explore St. Augustine and we really wanted to stay somewhere independent with a lot of character and The Saragossa Inn is certainly that.

The Inn itself is beautiful and the rooms are tastefully decorated in keeping with the character of the property. The rooms are large, spacious and impeccably clean and tidy.We were also pleased with all the facilities too (microwave, fridge, tea/coffee etc) and even our own sofa out on the verandah. Parking was simple and straightforward with ample space at the back of the house, which is very private and shaded by large live oak trees which is both secure and keeps the car cool! However, we didn't need to use the car at all once we arrived as the Inn is really conveniently located - just 5 mins walk to St. Georges Street in the middle of town but on a quiet neighbourhood street.

The most memorable part of our stay though was the food - three courses of delcious food all freshly cooked and prepared for the morning. The dining lounge is also very cosy and friendly and we enjoyed the morning chats with Gibbs and Sherry, who offered us lots of great advice on what to see and do and were very helpful in arranging the trolley tours too. The only point to note here though is that breakfast is served from 09.30-10.30 and it does eat into your travel time if you don't have long to stay and want to arrange some morning acitivities. That being said though the breakfast is a great start to the day and you leave on a full stomach!

All in all a great place to stay for a few nights.

Innkeeper Gibbs and his assistants Sherry ( Cheri, Sheri ?) , and John treated us like family as they pampered us with old world charm in one of the six antiques clad rooms. Our breakfast/ brunch delighted us with three courses of delicious fruits, egg dishes, smoked meat, and wonderful desserts crafted by our host and chef Gibbs, served in an English tea room atmosphere. Our bed surrounded us in antique four poster luxury and comfort with sheer curtains and an abundance of pillows. We found our room the "Southwind" clean and charming with wet bar area, mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and hair dryer. Be sure to ask about the house! The 1920's Craftsman construction is unique and very interesting!
We enjoyed our stay at the Saragossa Inn very much and we will return.
Thanks to all,
Kim and Sue

Location is perfect....food is great...bed's are soft...very friendly...I didn't want to leave. We planned to stay only one night but enjoyed it so much we went back for the next night. Love the rooms. Stayed in two separate rooms with each room having it's own style. Gibbs is a great cook and an interesting person to talk to. In fact I would move in if they let me :-). Very reasonable for what you get. We recommend this inn and we will be back.

Room Tip: Doesn't matter what room...They are all nice. First night was a room for two..the second was a...

The Saragossa Inn is perfectly located in a charming, quiet neighborhood with a short walk to everything in the historic district. The room we stayed in was lovely and the bed was so comfortable that we debated over whether or not to just stay in the room all day. The 3 course breakfast in the morning was downright divine!
Gibbs is a gracious host and we can't wait to stay at his Inn during our next stay in St. Augustine.
