“Delightful and Delicious!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 13, 2013 via mobile

My husband discovered this charming bed and breakfast for a special birthday getaway for us to celebrate my birthday. Our accommodations were charming (we stayed in the Palm Breeze room) and the location was convenient (a few short blocks from the historic center, the inn is tucked away in a lovely neighborhood). But best of all, innkeeper Gibbs's brunches were fantastic! We ate at the 9:30 a.m. seating, which allowed us to amble around the city without too late a start to our day. All in all, we had a delightful stay and would not hesitate to return or to recommend this inn to our friends.

We were celebrating our wedding anniversary. We had the Southwind room and were very pleased with the space and comfort. The 3 course breakfasts were amazing, and totally ruined our diets, but it was worth it! It was served as a Brunch at 9:30 AM, so you may not need a lunch. The innkeeper, Gibbs, has been a chef for 30 years and you won't be disappointed. Gibbs arranged for a horse-drawn carriage to pick us up at the Inn for a night-time tour of the city and the beautiful Christmas lights. Gibbs also knows a lot about the dining options around town. You won't go wrong following his recommendations. Keep an eye out for the darling neighborhood cat. When we were leaving, the cat was sitting in the neighbor's bird bath, as though waiting for a bird to just come to him.

An amazingly romantic weekend getaway right before the arrival of our precious baby. Gibbs was a fantastic host and he cooked up the best 3 course breakfasts we have ever had. An overall wonderful experience. We will definitely return to stay here again. We might even bring the baby to meet our friend Gibbs.

We went for a long weekend/birthday celebration in December. We had never stayed here before but definately would go back and stay again. Not in the downtown area but a short few minute walk to downtown. Specific breakfast time seatings at two different times so tell Gibbs what works for you. The breakfast should be called breakfast and lunch in my world. It was excellent and all very good. We were there during the weekend of the B&B tour so our room was on tour but not a big deal because we did the B&B tour and came back and relaxed afterwards.

My mother and I went on our annual trip to St Augustine for my birthday! We had a very pleasant stay at this lovely inn which is tucked back a little from the hustle and bustle of the city, but is only about a 3-minute walk into the city. The innkeeper was very helpful with restaurant selection and other local suggestions. His 3-course breakfast was exquisitely prepared. The rooms are all decorated tastefully and maintained to perfection!! Having stayed at many of the inns in St Augustine, I HIGHLY recommend this as one of the best the charming city has to offer!

Lovely Inn. Gibbs is a great host and a fantastic cook, the breakfast was gourmet each morning and we looked forward to each one. The room was cozy and comfortable, it was a short walk to the historic district and fort. We will definitely return!

Don't believe the four star rating on Booking.com. We were in the Honeysuckle room which is small and over-cluttered with furniture. The shower room is pokey with weak water pressure - even the towels live outside. But perhaps the most disappointing was not being greeted on arrival at 6 pm (had to call the owner on the phone) and no information in the room about wifi, attractions or breakfast. I went up to ask about breakfast at 8.45 am to find a notice on the door saying breakfast at 9,30 am - with a clear indication that nothing would happen before then.

Yes, the Honeysuckle room is our smallest room. It is also our least expensive accommodations. This room remains very popular among our guests. We have tried to make sure the room is well appointed. It comfortably holds a queen-sized four-poster bed, table with two chairs, a writing desk, a wet bar with built in cube refrigerator and microwave and an armoire for your belongings. And yes, the private, in-suite bath is cozy, but it is large enough to hold a standard sized toilet, step in shower and pedestal sink! Nothing is “miniaturized.”

We are an independently owned and operated six-room bed and breakfast and this means that the full-time owner/innkeeper wears a lot of different hats. We make every attempt to have someone here to greet guests during our normal check-in time of 4 to 9 pm. On some rare occasions, we are called away from the inn. And when this happens, we leave the arriving guests phone contact information so that they can reach the innkeeper who can answer any questions and direct them to their room. Left in the room is a card that gives the guests information on what time and where brunch is served, TWO phone numbers to reach the Innkeeper directly, and the pass code for our WiFi. This card is left on a stack of area guidebooks. We have tried to put all the answer to guest’s frequently asked questions at your fingertips. And all guests are encouraged to call the Innkeeper with any questions or for further assistance. The Innkeeper is ALWAYS just a phone call away. If there is ANY issue with your accommodations, the time to tell us about it is when you are here, so we can correct the problem. We WANT you to enjoy your stay with us. If you wait until after you leave, it’s too late for us to help.

The Saragossa Inn, located in our nation’s oldest city, has been rated excellent by hundreds of travelers from the world-over, earning us our 4-star rating on Booking.com and our 5-star rating here on Tripadvisor.
