“Nice stay”
Reviewed October 7, 2006

We stayed in the Victorian room last year (August 2005). The owner, Bonnie, is very attentious and was available whenever we needed anything. It was my wife's birthday and Bonnie made a wonderful cake, which we shared with other guests. The breakfast is wonderful with very delicious and exquisite dishes.

The property is well-located (walking distance from downtown and main attractions).

The only reason why I don't rate it excellent is because I think the Victorian room bathroom needed some remodeling.

Overall, the stay was great.

My husband and I stayed at the Alexander Homestead for our 11 year anniversary. Our room was beautiful, and the service was the best. Bonnie is a true delight! The little extras are what puts the Alexander above the rest.

My husband and I spent our first wedding anniversary at Alexander Homestead. We stayed in the first story room, Lady Grace. This is a King bed room and the most expensive of the rooms. The overall experience was wonderful and refreshing, especially the food.

However, a few things would have made it even better. For one thing, all of the website photos of the bathroom pictured a beautiful candlelabra around the jacuzzi tub. To our disappointment, there were no candles or even candle holders anywhere. We ended up buying some the next day to use. Also, when we first arrived, the bathroom had a noticeable bad odor. However, after some use, it gradually went away. But perhaps the most disappointing part of our stay was not even realized until we had returned home. In reading other reviews on this site, we learned that there was a mini refrigerator upstairs stocked with drinks for guests. We were never told about this.

The only refreshment we had were two room temperature bottles of Sam's Choice water and some room temperature dessert liquor. After a day of sightseeing and walking for miles in the middle of summer, how nice it would have been to have a cold drink! Just a simple note in the room about the mini-fridge would prevent this from happening to future guests. We have to say though, that there were more positive things about our stay than negative. The breakfast was the best we've had at a B&B. The house was very clean and beautiful. The location was great; nice, quiet and convenient. We would definitely recommend Alexander Homestead to others. Of course, we'll tell them about the mini-frige and to bring their own candles!

We loved it! The service and hospitality is the best. The room was beautiful and the breakfast, wow, like no other we've ever had. Bonnie, the owner and innkeeper is an amazing person. She is friendly and makes you feel right at home. We will definitely be back and will recommend it to all our friends.

We just returned from St. Augustine for a celebratory weekend away. My husband and my daughter searched the web looking for a reputable, well reviewed bed and breakfast and came across the Alexander Homestead. Lucky for me that they did because not only was the room straight out of the Victorian era making me feel like I was in another place and time but the food made me feel that way as well. Bonnie is a wonderful hostess and a magnificent cook. Her "world famous biscuits" are a reason in itself to travel to St. Augustine. I would definitely recommend staying here and in fact I am planning to go back with the rest of my family and we will all stay at Bonnie's.

If there were a rating higher than excellent that would be the category we would place the Alexander Homestead B&B in. We cannot say enough about the hospitality shown there. Bonnie Alexander, Owner/Innkeeper went out of her way to make our stay most enjoyable. The two and three course homemade breakfasts were to die for as were the chocolate chip cookies left for the guests on the hall credenza. She took care of making restaurant reservations for us and securing their courtesy cars for pick up and return for our convenience which we greatly appreciated. The Alexander Homestead has been lovingly restored to it's Victorian splendor by her and it shows in every little detail. It was such an enjoyable and friendly atmosphere that we hated to leave. Would definitely stay there again when in the St Augustine area..........50th Anniversary Celebrants:)

We celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary and from the minute we walked through the door Bonnie was warm, welcoming, and very accommodating. The special touches from the early morning coffee outside your door to the absolutely amazing fresh cooked breakfast were only a few of the highlights we encountered staying here! The location was also a plus being only a few blocks from St. George Street and all the shops and restaurants. Thanks Bonnie!
