“GREAT B&B!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 21, 2013

We always look at reviews when looking for places to stay and this visit was no different. The rave reviews about this wonderful B&B are ALL TRUE. I rarely submit reviews, but I felt that this special B&B deserves it, especially for future guests to review!

As local Florida residents, we "escaped" for a weekend from the corporate beat down and really enjoyed our stay at the Victorian. We have been to St. Augustine a few times and stayed at another B&B (Casablanca Inn), before, which was nice as well, however, it was not as cozy and welcoming as the Victorian. We were made to feel like we were at home the minute we walked through the front door. The extremely hospitable owner graciously greeted us and welcomed us into the inn, despite our late arrival (just before 10pm). We sat comfortably in the living room to fill out paperwork and were then, given the keys to our 'home'.

We stayed in the Serenity room, which was nice because it was in one of the corners of the house, so it felt almost like we had our own private quarters. The room was very nice and quaint - almost takes you back to the early 1900's the way they have it decorated with antiques throughout the room and house.

The owners are right there with you in the morning as the staff prepares breakfast and you get to know them and meet other interesting guests, as well. They were more than hospitable and truly made our stay quite memorable. They even inspired us to retire one day from the corporate world to have our own B&B someday in Italy! ;o)

We DEFINITELY plan to stay there, again, for our future St. Augustine weekend escapes!

This was our first stay at the Victorian House, and it will not be our last. The breakfast was first class and the location was just a brief walk from everything in St Augustine. We could not have had a better trip to St. Augustine!

My Mother, her friend and myself stayed for two nights and two days and had a wonderful time. The rooms were just as they appear on the website pictures and videos. The location is second to none. Right next to either of the trolley pickup/drop off points, multiple restaurants to choose from within two minutes walk. The B&B is just far enough off of the main streets to be secluded and remains fairly quiet. The breakfast meals were wonderful, and we appreciated the time that was taken to make them feel and taste like real home cooking. Anthony and Marilyn were friendly, courteous, informative and were readily available to accommodate all of our needs and requests. I will be visiting Saint Augustine again in the near future with my girlfriend, and there is no doubt about where we will be staying.

From the 1st time we spoke on the phone through when we arrived & finally left owner Anthony was quite gracious and attentive. Upon our arrival he carried our bags up, outlined a map of the area & provided advice. Then he pointed out the chocolate chips....an ever present treat along with always available tea, ice & cold water.

The help was friendly, meals of 2 courses served by Anthony, wife Marilyn and excellent staff member Dana in a cozy, well appointed dining room. And, the coffee was great, not the typical diner/restaurant weak.

House is within 15 minutes walking distance of all attractions & near the water which makes for a nice stroll.

On St Augustine- lots of history, architecture etc. If you've ever climbed a light house or visited a good zoo, skip the Alligator Farm & lighthouse- those excursions take time & you're better off elsewhere.

Lastly, I forgot expensive camera gear & owner Marilyn pounced on that, calling before we were out of town. GC- Naples, FL.

Stayed 2 nights in Hanna's Suite with my teen daugher & her friend. Owners are very cordial, very accommodating of my food allergies, food was delicious, everything was clean, the area is very safe, even at night. The only thing I would change is to have darker curtains on the windows. I like a dark room for sleeping and the outside security lights coming through the mini blinds and sheers were brighter than I would have preferred. Each room has it's own A/C which was very nice. We rarely heard any noise from the other guests. Probably due to the hum of the A/Cs. The bathroom is small like a Victorian era house would be but the shower is huge and up to date. The teens loved the cookies in the afternoon! Overall, I'd give it the highest rating because we had a great experience.

The historic district is rectangular in shape and the VH is at one end and the fort is at the other end. Total walk time between them is maybe 15-20 minutes. Lots of quaint shops and restaurants on Aviles street around the corner from the VH. I mention this because the chain hotels say they are in the historic district but none of them are. (Best Western, Holiday Inn, etc. are all located 1/2 to 1 mile north of the fort.) This was our first visit to a B&B and all 3 of us were very pleased and want to return.

Restaurants we loved: Raintree but go before 6pm so you get a lower price. The Mermaid Cafe was excellent. The Cuban/American place on Aviles St. can't remember the name tho - authentic & delicious. The Bunnary on St. George St.

Activities we loved: A 2 hour Segway tour with bikerentals.com on King St. - definately the highlight of our trip - so much fun. Book online to save $6 per ticket. The teens loved the Ghosts & Graveyards tour at night. The live music along St. George St. & Aviles St. at night. The fort visit was nice to do once and say you did it. Strolling through all the shops - so many unique things to see. Loved the antique shops & quilt shop.

Room Tip: Hanna's Suite has 2 separate bedrooms and a bathroom with a large shower. It is on the first flo...

I have stayed here at The Victorian House twice and it was wonderful both times! The house is gorgeous, very well kept and comfortable. Fantastic location within walking distance to center of town. I loved enjoying fresh coffee on the porch every morning! Breakfast was delicious and the hospitality was top notch!! Anthony and marilyn make you feel right at home! I felt like I was staying with old friends in their home.

My daughter and I recently stayed in Laura's Suite, on the upper floor of the carriage house. The two separate rooms, one with a king the other with a queen bed, gave us plenty of room to spread out. Located on the oldest street in St. Augustine we could walk to everything and easily return to our room to relax. It was like having our own little apartment in the historic district. I believe there are also suites on the first floor for those who do not like to climb stairs.

What makes the Victorian House so special are the owners and all the little extras they provide, setting out wine every evening, cookies at various times, continuous access to bottled water and such. The breakfasts were great, and served in the elegant dining room of the main house. Anthony also gave us great suggestions for our sight-seeing and dining.

We will definitely return to 'our place' in St. Augustine.
