I've just returned from my second stay at Kenwood Inn. It now feels like my "home away from home". I originally found it on the internet and booked it for a "girls weekend". We both had so much fun we said we would be back later with our husbands.
The charm of the house and the location is what first drew me.
Being a fan of Eugenia Price's novels about the area, my friend and I had read "Maria", the historical fiction based on the life of a woman who once owned the "Oldest House" one block from the Kenwood. We were thrilled to walk the streets and see the sights of the old city we'd read about.
The latest trip was a romantic get-away with my husband. We enjoyed the quiet courtyard, the afternoon wine, lovely breakfasts and close proximity to shops and restaraunts. Staff members are excellent and told us about lesser known cafes and shops which were even more special than the touristy ones.
We also learned that the Red Trolley comes right down Bridge St. which runs beside the inn. We were able to catch it simply by stepping out the courtyard door and walking a few feet.
One advantage of this B&B is the perfect little pool area. It's walled in and partially shaded-a welcome retreat from the heat of afternoon sight-seeing. We also liked that they have a fridge in a niche in the common hallway so we could keep soft drinks and snacks there. One day we brought salads home and stayed in that night...very cozy.
This is not a place for children. It is old and creaky and quaint but just right for singles or couples who want a secure and quiet place to settle in and enjoy themselves.

We decided to do something a little different on our trip back North. We love Historic St. Augustine and usually stay in the Inn just in front of the Kenwood. We had often walked past and wondered what this B&B was like. We were so pleased we spent the night there. The proprietor and resident Inn Keeper are delightful. Our room was well appointed and very comfortable, with view of the garden courtyard and pool. Breakfast the next morning was over the top; the selection magnificent. We took advantage of the upstairs porch to sit a while in the rockers just after we got in. It appears that only a couple of rooms have access to it, so if that is your pleasure, make sure you ask. Ice, tea and juice is available all day from the guest fridge. Wine and snacks provided in the afternoon. The garden courtyard is a wonderful space and perfect for afternoon cocktails and morning breakfast. The Inn provides bicycles with locks for St. Augustine touring. Free WiFi is available and usable in most rooms. It worked perfectly in the courtyard. The pool area is large enough for several couples but a little cool the evening of our stay. Parking is available street side or in a nearby parking area. We utilized the parking area with no problems. Common to historic Inn's, some of the bathrooms are a little small. If you are a large person, we suggest that you mention it when making reservations. All in all, a very pleasant Inn in a great location!

We recently stayed at the Kenwood Inn & couldn't have had a better experience. The hostess was delightful and the inn was beautiful. Our room was exceptionally clean and the decor was lovely. We enjoyed the wine and light snack in the evening and had a sherry for our nightcap after enjoying a meal in St. Augustine. There were bikes available, as well as a pool in the courtyard. The breakfast was delicious! Fresh baked muffins, breads and pastries, as well as cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit & a delicious quiche. We will definitely be returning to the Kenwood Inn.

My wife and I returned here for our third visit. We keep going back to St Augustine and since we found the Kenwood just wouldn't go anywhere else. If you want an impersonal corporate style hotel with impersonal corporate style staff this is not for you. If you like warm, friendly hosts (Mark and KerriAnne) and bags of character then this is the place.
I understand some people are put off as maps indicate the inn is not in the centre of the old town - this is true only if you can't manage a 2 minute walk! And it is quiet and peaceful.
All the rooms are individual ( the best has to be the Blue Room with it's wrap around balcony complete with hammocks). My only criticism would be that the plumbing is a tad antiquated. The small swimming pool is a bonus. Breakfast though not a cooked version is excellent with a variety of fresh fruit and homemade breads and KerriAnne to welcome you and give you all the local info and gossip.
We will be back again at the end of the year - we just love St Augustine and the Kenwood.

My husband and I stayed here a few years ago in the Olde English Room. Very very spacious! The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The bath was not my taste -- a clawfooted bath with a shower head above -- but it was adequate.

Breakfast was 'continental' and not very good, at that. Although the inn boasts that it's all home baked, I recognized the bagel as grocery store freezer department quality.

The location of the Inn is great. Then again, everywhere in historic downtown St. Augustine is reachable on foot.

I haven't been back here since we discovered the Bayfront Marin House (which is a few feet away, facing the bay)

The Kenwood Inn exceeded our expectations for our last minute weekend getaway to St. Augustine. My first "romantic" trip to the area and was incredibly excited to stay at a B&B. Even though we only stayed for 2 days, the accommodations and company at the B&B were relaxed and refreshing and just how you imagine a B&B to be.
We spent our nights and late mornings in the "Captain's Room, RM#16". This was a king suite with sitting area and comfortable bathroom. You could have breakfast in the downstairs of the cozy house with other guests or grab a tray and take anything from cereal to fresh fruits to hot quiche, bagels or biscuits to your room.
Kerri, the innkeeper, and her husband were extremely kind and helpful with information about restuarants and tours and anything else we inquired about.
I also work in the hotel industry, managing a quaint beach property on the West coast of FL, and truly appreciated the experience I had as a guest since I know how hard it is to please everyone everyday. This place does it!
I highly recommend The Kenwood Inn whenever you find yourself in St. Augustine - as long as there is a room for us each time we go back! : )

Just got back from touring America, Miami through to San Antonio, stayed in three B&B's this was by far the best and would thoroughly recommend.
A warm reception from Margaret, excellent home made, enormous cakes from the owner Kerri and interesting and good conversations with Jen. Complementary wine on the evenings and superb breakfast. A short walk into town, some retail therapy, or a good meal at one of several excellent restaurants, then back to the house for a relaxing glass of wine by the pool.

Thank you girls for an unforgettable stay in St. Augustine.
