“AWFUL”
Reviewed January 2, 2014

We've tried this "Beast-tro" on a few occasions. Always disappointed. The last time we went, they were our of many of the wines we wanted (offering much more expensive alternates...). No lobster bisque. Onion soup tasted canned. I ordered the Poulet au Gratin - more like Poulet au Stouffers TV Dinner. Sliced chicken breast was cubed, fatty "white" meat. Cream sauce was the consistency of skimmed milk. The puffed pastry pate appetizer was over cooked and generally pitiful. A friend had the Crepes - one end was burnt, the other end soft and wet (not moist and juicy - but WET). The Lapin (rabbit) was much too rich. Three time a fool.

“Consistently above expectations”
Reviewed December 30, 2013

While not quite frequent diners at the Bistro we are certainly not first time clients. Our assessment of "consistently superior" is perhaps a more valuable input for that reason. This last meal was begun with Pate that is always interesting and adapted to the season as the French do. Entrees were rabbit (Lapin) a la moutard and the always popular and huge pork loin. The sauce for the rabbit was top notch and the pork loin satisfied our daughter -- well almost, as we ended up tasting the mousse tort and the petite meringues. The Pot Lyonnaise of wine is the real deal as the selections of house wine are always good and the pot serves two or three adequately.

“So good”

Wife and I saw reviews and went for lunch. Pastrami sandwich was amazing on fresh French roll. Eclair was fantastic. Waiter was very nice and helpful. Bring cash because they don't accept credit.

“French icon Chef Paul Bocuse mentored the owner and operator”
Reviewed December 27, 2013

While passing through St. Augustine last month, my wife and I stopped for dinner at a quaint downtown French restaurant called Bistro de Leon. The food was superb and the service was equally wonderful. Our server, Carol, was friendly, efficient and made some very nice recommendations. We noticed several pictures of French icon Chef Paul Bocuse hanging on the walls. Carol informed us that Chef Bocuse mentored Chef Bouchon Lyonnais, the owner and operator of Bistro de Leon, and that they stay in touch. We immediately felt a connection in that we had the pleasure of meeting Chef Bocuse when we dined at his restaurant, Abbaye de Collonges, in Lyon, France just a few years ago. We highly recommend Bistro de Leon.

“Bad customer service on part of the owner lost a repeat customer!”
Reviewed December 24, 2013 via mobile

Despite the fact that our waitress confirmed tonight was their usual BYOB Tuesday we were charged a $15 corking fee for the wine we brought. We questionned the bill and were told that the owner would not honor their policy and what the waitress told us because it was a holiday. Just wish they had told us that in the first place!
