A collection of collections is a befitting description. We very much enjoyed it! It was close to our B&B and within walking distance of most other attractions.

Left to the city by a man described as "a collector of collections," who bought up Gilded Age furniture (and much else) after the 1929 crash, this museum is certainly one of a kind. It's in a fine building that was originally a companion hotel and spa for Henry Flagler's Ponce de Leon, across the way, and it offers room after room of opulent and often amazingly ugly late nineteenth-century furniture, plus collections of clothing, hats, walking-sticks, matchbooks, buttons, cigar bands, toasters, and many, many other things, After a while, you'll be walking around dazed and overwhelmed. It's worth every penny.

The Lightner Museum is a wonderful place to get lost in, especially on those hot humid days. It is a myriad of treasures although somewhat convoluted. The old bathroom/steam room and the top floor are glimpses of a time gone by.

Location is the former Hotel Alcazar. Each room contains collections of different items. The music room was outstanding with many different types of "music boxes".
