Incredibly well preserved thanks to the unique construction materials as explained by the exhibits and part service guides. Really an amazing piece of our history, but not for those who can't walk or climb steps. Probably there's no way to improve upon that due to the very nature of the fort. Be warned, though, there's no place to sit to wait for the trains/trolleys, and it's quite a walk for the less than able bodied even to get to the ticket area. Also would require keeping a very close eye on small children as there are no railings or barriers around the top.
