“Live History”

It is amazing to walk through a location with so much history. The view out to the bay is awesome and if you walk around to the bay side on the outside of the fort you can see where musket balls damaged the rock walls. Don't miss the little room inside the fort where you must almost crawl to get into....you might even see where it looks like someone tried to claw their way out through solid rock! Time your visit in order to see the full dress musket drills and cannon shot, well worth catching on camera.

“We Learned a Lot!”

Very interesting and informational. We loved the old-world uniforms and the way they re-create this piece of history for you. Lots to see and do.

Excellent tour. We enjoyed the cannon firing demonstration. Be sure you don't miss it - well worth the wait.

“Impressive structure...”

It basically is just a masonry fort,..rich in hirstorical significance. There's lots to read as there are plenty of historically descriptive items within the rooms of the fort. You can see where the troops slept, the holding cell for prisoners, where ammunition was kept. They have mock cannon blasts in full dress of the time.
You can see lots of evidence of soldiers signing their names and drawing pictures on the walls which give sa certain aura. If you're into that sort of thing, it's great, if not, well, your stay will be short, cause you'll be bored. It attracts LOTS of guests so brinig patience with you! I thought it was great,..and to see this huge fort right there along the main drag of downtown is crazy. I wouldn't have thought it, but there it sits,..right along the main avenue. Enjoy, and take home a souvenir from the gift shop within!

“Must wait for the rangers talk!”

We learned a whole lot on this stop! Being history buffs this was a stop we had to make. Informative and beautiful. There is a lovely neighborhood with old historic home next to the fort. Take the time to wander through it!
