“Relaxing Stay and Good Value”
Reviewed February 4, 2013

Had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay here. Our group stayed in the Olympia Tower on the 6th floor where we had several rooms. The rooms were set up great for sharing or a family with children as they had 2 soft and comfy queen beds, dual sinks with a door between to allow for privacy and a very nice balcony with a beautiful view. The room was very spacious and everyone slept well. There is no refrigerator or microwave, however there is a coffee machine. The outdoor pool is beautiful and kept at 80 degrees year round. The unique feature is it is mineral spring water as the hotel sits on top of several natural springs. The jacuzzi and steam rooms are also quite relaxing. The whole environment made for a really nice weekend and all the staff encountered were friendly and helpful - front desk was particularly kind. We also found the local folks to be very nice and informative on the area while we strolled through the shops on the main street. The hotel is so close to all the Tampa Bay amenities yet you'll feel like you are worlds away from all the hustle and bustle.

What a beautiful setting and value. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The Spa is one of the best. Enjoyed the outdoor pool, indoor jacuzzi, and massage. The resort has excellent walking trails leading up to the resort. Restaurant quality was excellent and staff superb. Green Springs Bistro in town is a must for dinner. Can't wait to go back

The family had a enjoyable stay at Safety Harbor over the New Year. The room was clean and comfortable. Some areas, including the spa, show signs of age, I think the facility overall is very good shape, the location is wonderful, and the price is very reasonable. I will certainly return, for what will be our fifth visit.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Safety Harbor Resort and Spa. It is laid back and relaxed with extremely helpful staff. The food was good and the fitness/pool facilities were beautiful. I especially enjoyed the free spring water available to all guests.

Safety Harbor is a quiet little town on Tampa Bay. You can safely walk around the town, which includes a few restaurants, some taverns, boutiques, and art galleries. Just down the road (a short bike ride or walk) from the Resort and Spa is a park with a Native American mound. The park is absolutely beautiful.

The Resort and Spa was built in the 20s so this isn't a glitzy, new building but it does show the beauty of a previous era. My room was clean and comfortable, as were the restrooms, meeting facilities, etc. during my stay. TVs were being replaced with flat screens.

The downside for me was the lack of WiFi and mobile phone signal (but that's not always a bad thing if you are trying to relax).

I would definitely stay here again and take more time to enjoy the spa and amenities.

Room Tip: From our group's experience, the rooms above the conference center have the best wifi and mobile...

One of the Historic Hotels of America. We excaped the cold Colorado Winter for a weekend in the warm Florida sun at the Safety Harbor Resort and Spa. The room was clean and the staff was polite and helpful. We could hear conversation, television, and doors opening and closing from the rooms next door but neither neighbor was overly loud so it wasn't a big problem but could have been. The weight and cardio rooms had new equipment and where CLEAN! I attended a couple yoga classes and the instructor, Peggy, was top notch. Some of the property is showing some wear but all and all I would recommend a stay.

A group of three generations met here and stayed for 3 nights. We had a beautiful view of the water from our Athena suite which had huge windows on two sides of the room. That was the highlight.
Everything else needs updating.
When we walked into our room, the thermostat was stuck at 99 degrees and the room was stifling hot. There was hot air blowing out of all the vents. We opened the windows to cool it off. We called for someone to repair it but it wasn't until a full day later ( and a second call) that someone came by and fixed it.
Internet doesn't reach that end of the building so the issue of "free Internet" was moot.
The bathrooms show too much wear and tear. Cracks, shower issues, tub issues.
A visit to the spa was not pleasant. When we checked into the robes and key bar at 8 am when it first opened for the day to use the pool and jacuzzis, they told us that they needed to save the robes for people having spa treatments later in the day. I had to insist that we would want them to walk around from the pools to the locker rooms. Then he asked two of us, "Do you really need a locker each? Can't you share one?" Really?? Even with the $16 per person resort fee! They didn't have the right size flip flops for the men in our group so they just "made do."
The pool area was dirty and slippery. The tiles needed cleaning and/or replacements. As you sat in the jacuzzi and looked around, you could see all the griminess on the floor, the walls and the tubs.
One member of our group, an 86 year old woman, fell in the spa area and shattered her arm. Other workers in the hotel commented that that particular area had been an area of concern for other guests. So you don't make that area safer?? No one from the hotel followed up to inquire about her status after an ambulance took her to the ER. She required major surgery to repair her arm.
This hotel has clearly seen better days. It needs a major makeover to be a destination spa and hotel. I cannot recommend staying here.

Room Tip: At least ask for the ones at the ends of the buildings, maybe they are called junior suites, which g...

I was planning on staying two nights but checked out after one. First they have check in at 4P - I was assured by reservations that I would get early checkin because of my spa treatments starting early and didn't. I also requested a room close to the lobby - because I was traveling alone and didn't get that either. The spa was tired but the service providers were very good and pricing resonable. My room looked into a palm tree and wasn't upgraded. When I checked out they had the wrong rate so I had to bring up my e-mail with the quote.
