“Overall it was a good stay”
Reviewed March 1, 2011

The resort location is amazing with a private beach. First nigt we stayed in the junior suite (i think) in the old part of the resort, it was one room with a kitchnette. The unit had some sort of carpet cleaner smell, which was very strong. Inspite of some reviews saying that it had a smell, we decided to try it out because it was bigger units than the newer ones and right by the water. The next day morning the toilet started leaking and cockroaches started coming out. Then we were given a junior suite in the new building, since the units are small we upgraded to a one bedroom suite for $10 pernight. I guess it could have been a special rate because of the circumstances. The new unit was compact but beautiful. We got the street view, which sucked but they did not have any units with the bay view.
The food at the restaurant, I think it is called the 'Sunset Grill' was pretty good, but the pricing was inconsistant. First day for Sunday brunch, they charged full price for my 11 yr old son, which was 15.99 and the mimosa was included, we had to pay for the other drinks. 2nd day before we sat down for breakfast, I asked the waitress for the pricing, she said $8.99 for the adults and $4.99 for my son and drinks were included. But they charged $2 for my son's chocolate milk. 3rd day I just checked the price and did not inquire about the drinks. They charged me for all the drinks. When I told the waitress that yesterday you had included the drinks in the price, she just smiled and walked away.
So, as long as you check the price +/- drinks included, you should be ok...

The reception staff in the hotel were very friendly and helpful. And we would consider going back again.

Thanks

Booked the room onlinebecause of the special deal. The restaurant has great food with decent prices - try their key lime pie!

Location looking over the bay is great

The room was average - nothing special.

We have stayed here seven or eight times over the past three years, as we visit our son and family approximately three times a year (October through April - it's too hot the other months). We have tried a local B&B, a hotel or two in Tampa, and a couple in Brandon but this is by far the most convenient, with the most facilities, and a very good "rapport qualite-prix" to the areas in southern Hillsborough Country/Ruskin/Apollo Beach. The rooms vary in size and features; we like the king with kitchenette. We buy breakfast items at the local grocery the previous day and have a quiet beginning on the balcony, overlooking the water, before a hectic day. It never seems crowded. The fitness room was surprisingly well supplied.

One negative; we only ate breakfast once at the restaurant; the food on the buffet was not warm and the coffee was the worse we had ever drunk. Skip breakfast and you should really like your stay.

To get a break from the winter cold, and to play a few rounds of golf, we stayed at Little Harbor. We stayed in a 2 Bedroom condo that was spacious, clean, well equipped and had terrific views of the marina, Tampa Bay and the cities of St Petersburg and Tampa.

The buffet breakfast was included in our stay. I was somewhat concerned having read other reviews but we did not have any issues with the food or service. While there is not a large selection at the buffet, the food was well prepared and fresh. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive and the cooked to order omlettes was a nice touch. We ate dinner at the Sunrise Grill a couple of evenings and were fully satisfied with food quality and the service. This is a great place to watch the sun set over the bay.

The beach and walking paths at the resort are OK although we prefer the ocean beaches and long walks on the white sand at St Pete's Beach. Being January, we did not go for a swim in the bay. However, we made good use of the hot tub and pool at the condo and this was very refreshing.

Overall we had a great time at Little Harbor. It was close to the golf courses we were playing at Sun City Center and provided a good place to kick back and relax. The only downside we saw was that it is somewhat remote so the choice of restaurants and varied nightlife is limited. Given that this area seems to be primarily a retirement community we should not have been surprised by this.

We will certainly be returning in future.

We stayed in a suite with full kitchen and living room, it was really nice and comfortable. The staff on the other hand was an interesting experience to say the least. At times my husband and I both wondered if we were in another country or possibly the Twilight Zone. I called the front desk twice to get information on boat rentals and massage services, I was told I would receive an email shortly with this info, but I never did . I would think they'd want to sell these extras, but maybe they were too busy.
We received attitude when dealing with the bar and wait staff on various occasions, just seemed like a lot of unhappy people working here and the breakfast buffet should be included for free...DO NOT PAY MONEY FOR THIS MEAL!!!
The room and surroundings we were in were great just stay away from the staff to ensure a relaxing time.

We recently booked a package through Orbitz and were assigned a room in the older section of this hotel group. On entering the hallway, the horrendous smell blew us away. The room was dark and smelly also. It wasn't a place where I would ask anyone to stay even for one night. We immediately complained and asked for an upgrade which we received. The upgrade was in a newer Condo/Timeshare building which was very nice. Don't stay in the older section.
