We were surprised thy such a great resort could be found in Ruskin, FL. Our condo was great, but cleaning services were sub-par upon arrival. Sunsets here are gorgeous. Resort provides a grill for guest usage, but they should invest in a second as the line to use was lengthy, even with low occupancy.

Accomodations are strictly ordinary. Rooms are nice size with very spartan, almost hospital like, decor. No king sized beds, period. And be careful: the standard booking is for double beds. Queen beds are a $20 per night upcharge.

Because all rooms open to the outside, there is zero privacy when curtains are open, so it is very dark in the rooms.

Breakfast (buffet only) with juice and coffee is about $16 per with tax before tip.

And while the booking sites like Hotels.com et al say all rooms have a water view and a flat screen, ours had neither, so call the hotel directly if these are important to you.

Room Tip: Call hotel directly to confirm important room ammenities.

My daughter and I stayed at the Inn for 3 days and Harborside for 3 days. Both buildings are nice, the Inn is older and the rooms are smaller, but still clean and well equipped. There are 3 or 4 layouts at the Inn, from a basic hotel room to a studio suite with kitchen. The Harborside building is newer and more modern, there are few layouts at Harborside as well. The entire complex is nice. The beach is white sand and warm water. This resort is in Tampa Bay, not the Gulf, so the water isn't clear blue, looks more like lake water. But still great for swimming. We watched dolphins and manatees right from the pier. The pools are nice, there are 3 choices. The restaurant has great food and reasonable prices. The lounge shares the menu as well. The lounge has live music Wed-Sun, basic lounge type music, it was ok. The Tikki Bar was a great place to hang out at night. Keep in mind that this place is on a "private island" in the middle of nowhere. Don't expect great night life and shopping. You have to drive to get anywhere. With that said, it was very relaxing.

Room Tip: The Inn is 3* accommodations. The Harborside is 4*. You get what you pay for.
